If that was the case, they could have just not assigned him to this game or others in the series. Let's face it, if the fans know about this ref I can guarantee that the league knows about him as well. Perhaps they don't see him as a total negative to the league, imagine all of the extra talk (about the league) that happens when he pulls shit like what is mentioned in here. Even negative press can be positive, in terms of revenue, under some circumstances.
I know that you aren't so naive that you don't understand that there are 'ways' to do just about anything you want as long as you are smart about it.
I don't really know what to say. I mean, I don't really know what you are implying, so it's hard to respond.
Anyway, like online poker and whether it's rigged, accusations with any other reputable league, I just can't get over the risk/incentive. OK, an extra game in an occasional big series gets the league money, but if solid evidence EVER came out of any fixing, rigging, extended series, whatever we call it, the league is done.
With online poker (I play often), there are just UNREAL bad beats that occur (95% hands that lose on the river, after players shove the turn). In one night, this can happen multiple times. But, if ever it was conclusively shown the software was rigged in ANY way, it's the end of that company.
Also, are the owners and teams complicit? I can't imagine the athletes being so. If the owners or team management were somehow complicit, well...would they really risk a game 7 loss, after artificially extending the series?
As much as I think about egregious calls, just like I think about ridiculous bad beat poker losses, I just can't conclude anything is rigged (and, there's never any evidence that comes close to being solid).
Oh, I also wonder, like with 9/11 conspiracy stuff, why is there not a SINGLE whistleblower? Allegations of bias, fixed games, extended series, etc. have been around a long time; why not a SINGLE whistleblower or piece of solid evidence?
