Golden State Warriors 2017-2018

Houston had to work for every bucket...Dubs made it look relatively easy.

Durant can score anywhere on the floor.

Rocket's iso one on one style of play gets Harden a lot of points but not the others especially when they are old cold from 3pt.

Next game will be tough now that Draymond has cooled down. He likely had to play a little tentative damn near all game .

I have no idea what was said or done to Draymond to make him go off like that. I think that something did happen. But he stifled himself for the rest of the game so that's a little progress. I don't get it either. It certainly would be tempting to try and get him ejected by an opposing team, but not accusing of the Rockets of doing so. But egging on Foster was just nuts.

Foster made one or two weird calls that even the announcers noted but he wasn't as bad as I've seen him. The juking on the jumpball was a little odd.

I know that being a Draymond hater is a popular and easy narrative to slip into. But I've seen few athletes that hustled as hard and consistently as that guy. I think he has game vision more than most; everything that is happening. The sports guys on the radio think he'll end up being a coach in the end.

Rockets are going to have to change something. What they were doing just wasn't working. Harden looked exhausted. But, by the same token, Curry was getting knocked around pretty hard trying his hardest to defend and I was getting a bit worried that he might lose his composure and hurt an ankle or something from awkward motions. He looked gassed when Durant came in for him.

But, as I predicted, he got a steal and made something out of it. And some of the Dubs passing was pretty sweet. Not that many times, but they were out-lasting the Rockets ability to defend enough times to hold the lead.

The early question was what would they do with Capela. He seemed more formidable early on then just kind of stopped being as important. That Nene guy was like the mole in whack-a-mole. Everyone of the Dubs seemed to take a turn at beating him at something.

People don’t like Draymond because he talks a ton of trash but has the skills to back it up. Must be infuriating. :laughing

draymond doesn't match up well against the rockets IMO. I highly doubt he will be the difference maker in this series.

For the rockets, gordon is the x-factor

If anything - and from the cameras it looks like Harden never opened his mouth - it doesn't matter what was said. Larry Bird was the king of trash talk, and he ALSO had the skills to back it up... but the trash talk was a huge part of his game to mentally break down opponents. It's the NBA - you have to be able to tolerate that shit, and walk away.

Draymond is a fantastic player, but at times looks mentally weak, and unable control his behavior. We've all seen that shit for years at this point, and I doubt it'll ever change. There's no point in denying it. At least he isn't kicking people in the balls anymore.

Great finish by GSW. Rockets had long stretches without a basket, and the Warriors kept making tough shots. Harden broke Steph's ankles more than once in that game, which did have me laughing. But he's not (the likely MVP) for no reason, you know? Phenomenal season for Harden.

Harden dropped 40 at home and they still lost by double digits.

Steph only hit one three.

:laughing

Yeah on post-game, the analysts were showing footage of Harden dribbling and dribbling to set up his shot. Although he was often successful in the shot, the point was how static their play can get. Burns the clock and if he is having a bad scoring night (which ain't often), well, there goes the game. They just don't pass around much. So he can score a ton but not develop successful outlet scoring by others, which is the opposite of Dubs. Many people love the adrenaline of successful threes but I love the passing game.

iso ball is meh, but that's what they do with harden and CP.

I'm a bit surprised...no one noticed that Houston had a plan to slow the W's inbound passing after the Rockets would hit a shot? They would literally run to the baseling to the exact spot where the Ws were trying to inbound the ball at. Also, they would grab the ball after a shot and roll it away from the inbounder.

That's why Draymond made that foul at the beginning of the game. The shot was made and Harden put himself right between him and Draymond, preventing Green from jumping over the line and inbounding the ball quickly, as they do almost every time.

Do y'all think Draymond was going to say "oh, excuse me sir, I will walk around you"?? lol.

It was a technical foul but not a flagrant. They got it right. If that was a flagrant, then one of the three+ times Houston bludgeoned Iguodala and others in the head for a simple personal foul should have been flagrants as well.

This is conference finals, people. Man ball.

They let a lot go. All in all, I was satisfied with the officiating. They set the tone early, then let them play for the most part. There could have been a lot more calls both ways.

good game!

also, Draymond was fine. so what he only got 5 pts. He had 9 rebounds, 9 assistsasses, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He was on, and Houston better be worried because he could be even better.

Okay, that explains what the announcers were talking about, but not enough, evidently. I couldn't figure it out. I did see them trying to steal those inbounds and such. I think most of the nation saw Draymond basically attacking Harden for getting a goal or something, then being surprised that he didn't get more of a penalty for it.

So, since GSW won, the officiating was fine and dandy? :p

so, since Houston lost, it wasn't?

I thought it was fine. If you go back 2-3 pages, the preemptive complaining was in full effect...:laughing

Not directed at you. Pretty thin-skinned for a sports thread!
