GTA IV

ebrake and getting out of car are different buttons.

to get the camera readjusted quickly, i just press in the right thumbstick button once and release it. after releasing it camera should make you face directly forward.

Ohh, you don't even need to toggle it in the direction you're going in? I assume you mean pressing it like it's a button right?

Well, I was one of the lucky ones who had their PS3 crash with this game, yeehaw. So I picked up the 360 version and gave it a whirl yesterday. It's fun, but fighting the cameras and funky driving dynamics detract from that for me for now. Only now does "drive it like you stole it" translate to taking a turn like Grandma. For a game with so much dependency on the cars, they should be a little tighter from the get-go.

What little combat I've been in seems to be better than I remember from the older titles.

Graphics sometimes look very cool, sometimes a lot worse than I expected. GTA has never been about the graphics, but the variety and details though. Like Robert R1 said, the city really does feel alive, which is pretty impressive. (Re: Assassin's Creed ... it'd be great to run across someone in GTA who nagged you for "coins ... coins ...")

Crackdown was a great game. I keep forgetting about that one.

Can't wait to find even more funny shit -- those signs keep cracking me up.

I don't really like the "dates" with folks, especially pool, but do them for the benefits and the dialogue. At least the eating ones are quick!

So far it's not 10/10 for me, but it's solid as a whole. Will probably enjoy it more when I'm used to things and rebuild those driving skills. That it can pull me away from Metal Gear Online at least part of the time is a strong statement.

Tyler: We need you to get on the HotSpot to give a little secret BARF shout-out!

ETA: The TV shows are classic! "I'm Rich!" :laughing

Hooray for failboat poo poo. I will do that next time.

Yep, just press it in like a button. No direction needed.

Werd. I was driving like a grandma yesterday and owlflavored goes "Dude, just drive, this isn't GTA: DMV" :(

Is the ps3 having problems running the game?

Some PS3s are, some 360s are. The pattern isn't known yet, unfortunately. For PS3s, it seems to be more common for the 60GB versions, but other versions are having problems too.

i disagree. in the earlier GTA's you HAD to drive like grandma, because most of the cars topped out at something like 50mph. pick up GTA 3, VC or SA, grab an 'average' car and drive it as fast as you can. then switch to GTA IV and get in the crappiest car you can find (roman's taxi probably) and drive that as fast as you can. you will find that even the crappiest cars in GTA IV are much, MUCH faster.

so you don't necessarily have to drive like grandma, but you DO have to slow down. this just has to do with the more realistic physics and the fact that the cars are SO much faster.

(Re: Assassin's Creed ... it'd be great to run across someone in GTA who nagged you for "coins ... coins ...")

there are beggars actually, and you can choose to give them money (or kill them, or give them money and then kill them and take it back, etc.). :thumbup

every game that is released gets blamed for killing 360's. the fact is a lot of 360's die all the time, and whenever a new game comes out a bunch of people's 360's who happen to die at the time will blame it on the game.

the ps3 crash in this case, however, seems like it may actually be specific to the game?

Thats why you bought it for PC and modded the cars.. :thumbup

I drove like a grandma because I didn't want to wreck my car, I wanted that undercover cop to like me and give me skillz and the camera wasn't panning automatically.

i was actually referring to the fact that you didn't want to hit ANYTHING with your car. i've never seen someone drive so carefully.

on the other hand, i got drunk in the bar with Roman, and drove the ice cream truck over people on the sidewalk. only got 1 star of police pursuit.

:teeth

today for fun in the game i did a burnout till the wheels popped and then continued to fish tail up and down the street mowing down peds while doing figure 8's:thumbup

this game is weird at first but fun...

driving is way realistic...

the dates are kinda ghey lol...

oh and he does wear a helmet on the bike!

he'll do that normally doesnt have to be drunk

i'm really liking the story so far, its pretty sweet. well written. still on the first island though wonder how far you have to go to progress

There's a story? I guess I should have gone to go meet that Roman guy then.

The cars don't seem to handle very good compared to vice city/San andreas. I got going to fast in a Hummer and tried to avoid hitting a barricade. Hit the thing and I actually got ejected out the front windshield. I laughed my ass off at that. And I can do an authentic George Costanza "jump and roll" out of speeding cars now too (then get hit by oncoming traffic). I also found that the cops get instantly super pissed if you venture out onto the airport runway. Pssh...silly post 9/11 security.
