Lake Berryessa Glory Hole

Now would be the time to pitch that basketball in and find out. Someone has to have one hell of an arm.

And I suppose you'd need someone standing in Angwin to catch it?

Oh, that changes things. I looked at a google image of the area and I thought I saw where the water came out at the bottom of the dam. Obviously wrong...

It spills into Putah Creek quite a ways down the road.

Chart says spills at 440 ft so at 1:15 pm today there should be 2.88" going over the top.:thumbup We need pictures.

You can see where the glory hole dumps basically at the bas of the dam. You can see the outlet on Google maps satellite view. It's in shadow and a little hidden because of that but there.

You'd have to be crazy fast to both chuck something in the hole and expect to see it exit.

It's a foot over the spillway! And rising!

Speaking of spillways, I was just checking on the Orobille Dam.
If I knew how to post video from my phone I have great footage ofLake Hennessy spillway.

group ride group ride

not in the rain though lol

Set up a Thursday morning ride followed by breakfast or lunch at the Putah Creek Cafe.

Too bad I don't live around there any more!

Lake Berryessa tops the glory hole again

Tuesday morning the lake level reached the glory hole spillway. That only happens once or twice a decade and is a spectacular sight. As of this morning water level is 40" above the rim and rising. The hole is 72' outside diameter.
