Lake Berryessa Glory Hole

Damn dyslexic kids tagging Corona nonsense on the dam before it was even finished..

I wonder how long that shack was there and what is was for?

Side note, you know we're doomed when Google highlights "shack" as misspelled and should be "shaq".

Adolescent snickering aside... why a glory hole instead of a traditional spillway?

I love it, but it seems maybe the most expensive option?

Limited space? With the steep, narrow canyon, I can't see where they would put a traditional spillway. With the big wide earthen dams like Oroville, they can just build the spillway into the dam.

And we know how well that worked for Oroville :laughing

Their speculation of the poor duck surviving is comical.
"200 feet straight down..."
That's gotta be a below average day in ducktown.

I brought my wife up yesterday for another look. A couple of Canadian geese swam by nonchalantly between the hole and shore. Apparently had more sense than that duck. They were gone before I got the camera out.

It has a fence around it. Barbed wire on top.

You do know that ducks migrate, they are not all stupid Ca ducks that need mothering.:rofl Some even from Canada.:thumbup

Just like lots of Canadians, that duck came to the bay area to try our free lovin' glory holes and found out the hard way that its not all its cracked up to be.

:laughing

They are not "Canadians". That's what you call people from Canada. The geese are Canada Geese.
