Can you sit up in a seat of a car if we get you in there? Not a moto, but I would be happy to give you a ride in this up in the hills when I get back home.

oh and im in for doing whatever is needed to help make this happen.

As with any project you need to start with the requirements for the project.

There are quite a few resourceful individuals on this board. I see no reason why this request could not be meet. It would have to start with a definition of the risks. I do not mean cars or cold. I mean to you... What are the requirements for support, what are the risks to you if they are not sufficient. Putting you in a ural side car with some pillows, duct tape and a few bungee cords, while well intentioned, may not turn out well at all. I am not aware of the specifics behind your injury, however based on the lift and wheel chair you had at Hawthorne last year I would guess you cannot sit up unassisted. That would suggest that in a side car if one were to squeeze the brakes or swerve and you were not secured correctly. The result might significant damage to to you.

Easiest thing would be to build a side car you can roll your wheel chair up into. The most exotic would be to build a replica of your chair into the design of a side car.

I was going to bungee net him to the bananacati. Are you telling me this is a bad idea? :x

Hey Adam,

Let me know more about your limitations.

1. How much do you weigh?
2. What kind of support do you need?

I saw this thread last night, and I've been working up some ideas on how to strap you to the back seat of my Goldwing. But, I need to know what I'm working with to make it happen. If I can figure out a good way and if I can get help loading you onto my bike, I'd be more than happy to take you on a cruise around town or even around the Bay.

We briefly spoke at Erin & Val's party. I'd really like to make this happen for you.

I used to see a guy come into the bar in Austin, Tx. and he was confined to a wheelchair as well, albeit from the waist down. He had a mid 70's BMW K bike, and the hack attached to it, was a platform. When he backed it up to the sidewalk, he would drop the gate, roll his wheelchair off, get piss drunk, then roll back into it, tie himself off with a rope, and then :burnout :laughing fucker was fast on the roads too.

Get some pictures/video Adam! :D

If we're making our own contraption, I want to be the test monkey.

way to go Kev :thumbup

I have no ideas cos I am useless, but I can help with a fundraiser if one is needed :party

Hell, I might even throw a leg over Pony and go for a group ride if you intelligent lot figure out how to get Adam on a bike

Hi Adam :wave

Hey, I have an idea, what about a shopping trolly tied to the back of a goldwing, we could throw you in there Adam - will that work :confused :rofl

we were hanging out at newcomb's ranch.

a cam am spyder comes in. there's a 'rack' bolted onto it o carry a wheelchair.

the driver (double amputee) spins around, puts the wheelchair down and hops into it.

we were impressed.

All of this is why I linked to one for sale that's built to hold a wheelchair. It'd be silly to build one when one exists.

It'd also be the most practical solution, even though I know Adam would prefer the chance to get out of his chair.

Your logic isn't welcome here. :x

:p. besides, I'm going to build a roof rack on the mini and we can all ride like one of Romeny's dogs!!! WOOOOOOOOOT!

The bike alone is worth it-the rest of the rig just saves everyone trouble.

Massive fundraiser and maybe some sucker would sign for the thing while it gets funded.

Adam could go on group rides, get off the bike, and be mobile with a minimum of effort. Strapping him to a motorbike or sidecar means if someone wants to go get food, use the can, etc he might get parked in the sun, which just sounds depressing to me.

Guy with the rig said he's willing to trade for a GS-we happen to have a member here who sells them (hi G!).

Bet we could fund one and do the swap.

I'll contribute substantially if I can get the goldwing and a normal sidecar for my kids. I just can't reasonably afford it outright currently. What say you, Adam?

One of you people with free time get to organizing.:kiss

Okay so you make a lot of sense. Ive got to admit as much as I hate the chair it would be a lot simpler to get something already made than to fabricate some crazy one off. That said purchasing the entire Gold wing rig seems a bit much. I wonder if I could get a hold of the sidecar without the motorcycle? That way I could ride with different people maybe or Are there no sidecars that fit more than one type of bike?

So I've got me the itch. Its. been over two years and I'd like to get back on a bike in some manner. If that simply means on a side hack that's cool. If that means a hack on a track, also cool. Honestly kind of a challenge but I miss it terribly and would like to try. Ideas?
Here's what I've come up with so far
KentAndersonButler-600x401.jpg

There is a thread on here or advrider wherein the controls for the motorcycle were moved to the sidecar so the wheelchair bound rider could roll up into the specially made sidecar and ride.

I don't know the extent of your limitations, but it is worth looking into.

Good luck

The attachment points would have to differ from motorcycle to motorcycle, thus it would not be a one side car fits all. That and I would believe it would be difficult to mount without scratching/marring the frame?

The whole rig would seem to be the best plan, easiest to implement and used the most IMO.
