me in?on? a bike.

Although there would be an issue of getting you out of the seat... An FIA rated "full enclosure" racing seat would probably be ideal, as far as support and incident safety.

I would set that up on a frame work that allows the hack to lean. Add a well designed roll cage, and you'd have a pretty safe environment.

I would mount the seat in a way that allows you to raise it up to a height for lifting Adam out, but lowering back down for travel.

Not too complicated really.

It's been done. Just one configuration.

Adam, would you need to control the vehicle with a joystick?

Ducati, even! :teeth

Can we get any of the dritbags to build something? It's be sick to see adam doing a burnout at this years challenge.

And it may not be enough power, but I know where we could get an EX500 engine and frame for pretty cheap...if any money at all...

I'll volunteer my services and my place, but we're way up north of Chico. Plasma cutter, mig and tig welders, big air compressor, bead blaster almost every tool know to modern man and have access to a hyd. tubing bender, and I can feed/house 20+ people really easy, and we have handi-cap accessible bathrooms
The rub is the place will be booked from the 9th of Sept to the first week of November.
I'd love to help!

kick ass dude, you might have visitors:teeth
this will take some planning so sept wasnt even on the mind.

Super easy to find too. One turn off of I-5 and the road dead-ends at our place. Bummer is it's exactly 200 miles from S.F.

As with any project you need to start with the requirements for the project.

There are quite a few resourceful individuals on this board. I see no reason why this request could not be meet. It would have to start with a definition of the risks. I do not mean cars or cold. I mean to you... What are the requirements for support, what are the risks to you if they are not sufficient. Putting you in a ural side car with some pillows, duct tape and a few bungee cords, while well intentioned, may not turn out well at all. I am not aware of the specifics behind your injury, however based on the lift and wheel chair you had at Hawthorne last year I would guess you cannot sit up unassisted. That would suggest that in a side car if one were to squeeze the brakes or swerve and you were not secured correctly. The result might significant damage to to you.

Easiest thing would be to build a side car you can roll your wheel chair up into. The most exotic would be to build a replica of your chair into the design of a side car.

So here are my limitations.
I have limited use of my left arm;shoulder partial tricep bicep and wrist.
I have very weak trunk control. Due to this the seat would need to be outfitted with some sort of harness system keep me up right at all times. (Are there any race seats that have things like that built in? Sitting in one place for a long time can be dangerous for me, as I cannot shift my weight and I'm prone to skin breakdown. This can be solved with the use of gel cushions or air cushions.

Driving the thing seems a bit out there but I'm currently working on driving a truck so who knows...

I can get you some zflow pillows that can be sewn into a seat. as well as gel pads we use to prevent break down at the joint areas for our medically paralyzed pts. :)

A bucket seat and 5 point harness (slightly modified for comfort?) should keep you in place.

I'd say, make a list of needs, then wants, and can accumulate them and plan them as they come up. just a thought.

hell, I'm sure with the mechanical geniuses around here, we can also make the chair rotate from side to side ever so slightly to take pressure off of your body. Kinda like an auto rotating bed?

This is gonna be awesome.
Anyone here ever tried a Kickstarter campaign? Bet we could raise some dough... and I love the idea of a build party at oobus' place. Heck, we could make a documentary out of the build while we're at it, and then take Adam to Sundance in the new sidecar for the premiere. :laughing
