Shit Adam, we're gonna have to think up something good then..

FYI ThunderHill is only 20 minutes from my place, and I have connections.

Would make a great test facility......

How complicated are kits like the exxo ecco and tr1ke? I'm really not a mechanic so I don't know what's feasible and what's pie-in-the-sky.

That looks like one of those Ariel Atoms - if it is a kit shouldn't be too hard to build.

Would it be wiser to start slow and just get a hook up for a side car ride first? See what seat/configuration would work best before going all out on a whole bike? I'll bet you will tire out fast trying to keep yourself upright.

True, Kyle and I are trying to figure out away to start slowly with this.

If you guys are going the side hack route, how about PM'ing Moike...he's big into that community.

Why didn't this post get more attention? I think the idea of the leaning hack is SO awesome!

I would set that up on a frame work that allows the hack to lean. Add a well designed roll cage, and you'd have a pretty safe environment.

I would mount the seat in a way that allows you to raise it up to a height for lifting Adam out, but lowering back down for travel.

Not too complicated really.

I don't know, somehow it got lost in the shuffle that's really awesome.
Tomorrow I go to my physical therapy, will speak with the PT's about what potential problems they could see and what would be advantageous for the setup I think their input would be really good.

I've been following this closely, and am very excited to jump in and help whenever we get the ball rolling. My fabrication skills are pretty much nil, but I can provide beer to the fabrication team(s), and hopefully throw a few dollars at the project. :thumbup

If I've read the thread correctly, Adam will need a good amount of support so if we can remove lateral forces this is easier. Leaning sidecar is the way to go I think - the lean itself will cause the cornering forces to resolve down the spine as opposed to side to side with a car/regular sidecar/ anything that doesn't lean.
Now long term control of a vehicle - Adam, would you be able to use a small joystick?

ok so who has a sidecar?
i need to see one in person before I pretend to know what I'm talking about.

I was at the abilities Expo today in San Jose and I happened upon a booth with a pretty cool M3 in track get up sitting there.

On closer inspection was pretty apparent it had been modified for a quadriplegic to drive on the track.
I spoke with my guys there and it turns out it was the car of Mario Bonfante, a quad Who has tried is hardest to get back on the race track and will be racing with nondisabled drivers this coming February in Sonoma.

it also turns out that this crew provide services to those wanting to do similar things and since Mario used to be a rider. as well motorcycles are on the horizon.

I had no doubt their expertise will be invaluable for me as I get closer to actually pulling this off.

Awesome stuff, Adam. Looking forward to sharing the track with you, be it on 2 or 4 wheels. :thumbup

Adam, do you happen to know the Bennett's? Ken and Andrew?
