During my last track day at Laguna Seca, I turned in my best lap of 1:42 flat on my ten year old R1. That put me around 18 seconds off of Josh Hayes best race lap in the same track earlier that year of 1:24.706, on his Graves R1. Needless to say,I was stoked. :laughing

I know it's far from comparable to CRT vs. prototypes, but my point is, if I were Aleix Espargaro on my CRT/ART bike, and I am only getting closer to Lorenzo or Pedrosa on their works bikes, well...can't be mad. :teeth
Both times are good for Laguna. :)

Haven't the factories stopped engine development? I don't know if the CRTs would be catching them without the pause. I do believe if the CRTs actually start beating the satellite teams that the rules will be adjusted again.

true dat!

it'd be a situation 180-degrees out from DORNA's CRT policies

if Carmelo actually does make such rule changes, will MotoGP fans "storm the Bastille" ?

Dorna talks tough, but without MSMA it wouldn't be THE world championship. The dwindling factory ranks puts everyone in a precarious position of keeping the grid filled without killing the intent of the racing series. The rules won't be a wholesale dump of the current weirdness. Just a couple of tweaks. Maybe give the CRTs the same fuel limits, for example.

Fans look at the front of the race, don't they?

In racing 2.9 is getting smoked, 1.9 is getting smoked!

Not sure why people are so excited when superbikes were doing crt times in 2008.:laughing

No one's getting excited, just realistic, which would inherently be healthier for any race series than being an elitist.

I wanna see those two swap bikes and go 5 laps after some familiarization time and see what gives, if for no other reason than to get Jorge's assessment of the ART. Those two being Jorge and Aliex, of course...

Joey Pascarella lapped me at Vegas this past weekend in a 20 lap race... twice! my goal was to only get lapped once, oh wells :laughing

cuz going fast is rly rly hard, esp when u only get the limited track time of FP and QP to develop a completely new motorcycle on new tires w/ new electronics w/ new everything.

Aleix has already ridden a GP bike, but Lorenzo hasn't a CRT bike.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: They should've put Stoner on a CRT for a session if they really wanted to know the true measure of those bikes. He's the only guy to win on the best and worst GP bikes.

Do you think he would have done it? I honestly don't think he would have; he hated those things. I would have loved to see it though and I completely agree with you.

I would pay money rather than torrent gp races to see that.:laughing

and Karel has also just come off a prototype, already saying the ART handles better... but thats not at all surprising.

worst idea ever ^^^. u kno we'd NEVER hear the end of the MOANING from him riding a bike he doesnt enjoy :laughing

no, he wouldn't have, it's more of a wishful thinking. Which is ironic, because he's actually the best person for that kind of job.

I suppose you are right but I don't see MOTOGP ever becoming healthier as long as you have a multi tier race. And i really believe we will have a false indecation as long as rossi is still racing.

Sorry for the stupid question... what do CRT and ART stand for? Google has let me down on that one

Claiming Rule Team: a team in GP that owns their own prototype motorcycles w/ no support from a member of the MSMA, ie not a satellite team or a factory team in disguise.

Aprilia Racing Team: the extension of Aprilia that builds CRT bikes for racing in GP, commonly referring to their prototype bike using RSV4 engine cases and cylinder heads.
