Musician thread

Honestly dude, 9mo for a MIM Charvel.:wtf

Finally gave up trying to find a reasonably priced used Fractal FM3(people are adding $500 on top of the new price and crowing “skip the wait”)and added myself the waitlist for a new one. Wait time approx 6mo.:wtf

Thing ain’t like they used to be...

I'm auditioning for a paid bass gig. I have been trying to get away from the bass and focus on the guitar but 35 bucks an hour ain't bad and money is good.
Also have our first duo gig booked at canyon club brewery with the girlfriend. So that should be fun/interesting. Things are happening!

Attaboy. Good luck!

Just spent the last 3hrs vetting the Charvel.

Cons:
-Noooobody will ever mistake this guitar for a well built instrument.:laughing So many little issues it’s almost laughable. Inlays are second rate at best, misfitted pick guard, pick guard screws wonky(one at 30deg I shit you not), jack cuts out(wiring/solder is fucked), wiring itself is very untidy, there’s even a big ol nasty/sharp tab on the mini switch collar from the manufacturing process that was never removed during assembly, and the roast on the neck is conspicuously darker than the board. I could go on, but you get the picture.

That said, I love this thing and I am definitely keeping it because...

Pros:
-The neck profile on this guitar is absolutely perfect for me. Like, filthy porn perfect.
-The fishmans are outstanding. Massive versatility. I played it dry af thru the 5150iii and was amazed at the tonal possibilities.
-Tuning stability is about as good as it gets without a double locking system.

Now, time to start futzing around with the captor x.:)

This is definitely a b stock instrument that “somehow” worked it’s way through the exhaustive Charvel qc lol. I could point out all kinds of non structural issues. But I’m seriously conflicted on this one. It’s clearly not right, but we’re kind of a bonded pair at this point. He even has a name. I’m a notorious stray taker inner.:laughing I’ll take him to my guy and get an objective opinion though.

El Feo is for sure not a stellar example of his model, but the specs are really good and dangit, I like him.

I’m probably not representative of many guitar players but I don’t name them or bond with them, beyond getting used to their characteristics and keeping what’s familiar. Cosmetic things don’t bother me too much, but anything that requires a workaround functionally either has to be corrected or it’s not the right instrument.

Right? It’s like Hee Haw meets Hell Haw.

Even if I don’t keep this specific instrument for above stated, I’m sold on this model/concept. The neck and pups alone are worth waiting for if I decide to return this fella for a replacement.

Just dropped El Feo off to my guy. He saw the trem and dual string tree set-up, shook his head and gave me the ol’ “I can put lipstick on your pig if you like, but it’ll still be a pig” look.:laughing

On a more positive note, this captor x is delivering beyond expectation. Sooo stoked to be able to record the 5150iii.

I’ve got a pink G&L Rampage with a single hum bucket and only a volume control. Want it?
