NFL 2023

LOL, I don't do much of that chortle thing.

Grace in victory and dignity in defeat is a more noble character to pursue. If you like you may call it the Polar Opposite of the Philadelphia Way.

I do have to say though, Philly seems to have turned their notorious behavior up a notch online prior to this Niners game and I am certainly enjoying their payment now due all over the internet as a result.

:laughing

I have been classy about football since they got a ring :x

Careful, if you continue that, they may Vomit On Your Children or Punch Your Horse.

One of the more horrifying things about Philly fans is they do not restrict their behavior to visiting teams, they also freely inflict the Philly Way on other Philadelphians.

:laughing

The life of a Philly sports fan is historically frustrating. Pick a big 4 sport. Once a decade a Philly team is a contender. They usually don't win a championship, crash and burn, and for another 9 years is a dry hump edging with no finish. Once you experience this pattern you understand why they are the way they are. Deeply caring people with very few tools to self regulate emotions combined with stunning, often spectacular, disappointment creates a perfect environment for bad behavior. I can find empathy for them. Living 3000 miles away helps :laughing

During the 49ers @ Eagles broadcast I heard booing.
Not sure For Whom The Boo Tolled, but thought it was at half time.
Was that for `Niners headed into locker room or...
At the home club?
Then again, could have been this guy...again!

You know, there are other fans with notorious bad behavior and a common trend of fans being arrested on game day. Pats, Jets, Raiders, Steelers, are a few, but it seems the Eagles are unique in that the culture in their town has taken that bad behavior as a point of pride they actually enjoy elevating.

They intentionally have made being the worst people imaginable on game day a part of their culture, not an embarrassing side note they prefer not to discuss like the Niners fans do.

Shall we take a moment to discuss Eagles Court? :laughing

Aaaaand, Jamaal Adams is making a run for being my favorite Seahawk agitator. By, that, I mean "Player on the Seahawks, that damages their reputation". Metcalf has had a decent run at being my favorite. But, the most recent social response with Adams and a reporter is pretty good.

Not going to link it. But, a quick search of "Adams reporters wife" should get you there. :laughing

Eagle Court I had to look that up. Interesting read on that and the later downfall of the judge that administered it.

LOL, many locals have some idea of it, because it started as a result of the full scale assault on Niners fans that happened in in 1997 that included an attack against Niners fans with a Flare gun.

The above article seems to indicate it is better now, but all indications seem to be not much.

This game makes you wonder how the steelers are 7-5. At least when the pats are sucking, their record accurately reflects it.

What I saw was so yawn inspiring I couldn't even hope for gruesome injuries to 2 of the 3 NFL teams I can't stand in the least...

(Apologies to the Grinch and Max.)

Prior to Tom Brady, the Patriots had gone through years of being bottom of the barrel....now they're back there.

Bledsoe took them to a Super Bowl that they would lose to Favre and the Packers, so they weren't that bad in the 90's.

But I am enjoying the steaming pile of crap they are now....

I keep joking with a Charger fan friend that Belichick will be his team's coach and he'll be bringing all his pals; O'Brien, Josh McD, and a whole bunch of failed HC's off that tree.

:laughing

Had a good friend who was a staunch Patriot fan, we were first friends in 89 (5-11), he really suffered in 90 (1-15) and continued to suffer through 92 (2-14) and 92 (5-11). :laughing

I have to hand it to him, he remained a loyal fan through all of those years and is a fan through today.

I don’t enjoy the fate of the players, and maybe even not Gargamel (who has no other purpose in life than being an obsessive football coach), but I do enjoy the suffering of the loudmouth fans. Hey, I am a Warriors fan, I have become used to adjusting my expectations. I lost a $100 bet the 15 win year (the only sports bet of my entire life).

Each loss and misfortune, to me, shows the importance of Brady in the larger scheme of things. It wasn’t hard to give more credit to Bellichiclk while he was playing, especially the way they cycled players in and out yet kept winning. Even with the cheating, you can’t deny that run.

Oh and PS: My fake dream came true last Sunday. For ONCE, the Niners were part of the vaunted and mysterious “America’s Game of the Week” instead of the Cowboys. If they ever were before, I don’t know about it.

I mean, if you are talking about the Fox Event, I don't know. If you are talking about the single large national broadcast game, Niners used to be in it all the time in the Montana days.

You got me there. I never even heard of it until recent times, and it’s always a Cowboys game. They have a special logo and the broadcasters have to say it about three of four times during the game. It makes Jerra Jones a bit more odious when they get that moniker even when stinkin’ up the joint because you wonder.. I get envious that Joe Lacob can’t get that golden shower of respectability i some way for the Dubs. Year after year, the Lakers have some kind of upper track because of LeBaby, I guess.

But yeah, I do know about the decisions to broadcast nationally with winning teams. This seems a little different. It’s like some big deal so we can see Jerra sitting in the skybox with retired stars. Ho-hum. It’s bad enough that of our broadcaster choices, we already got Tony or Troy for big games. And that red-haired stooge Jason Garrett. And at halftime or pre and post, we were stuck with. Irvin or Deion (until he went to Colo). America’s Team with America’s Game, yuck.
