OK, that was COLD this morning...

I put on the heated vest and had to unplug it just before the "S" curve. I was starting to sweat. But yeah is was the coldest morning this year. I have been wanting it to rain so it would warm up!

buy the controller so you can dial the power down. :thumbup

I tried dialing down the controller with one hand with winter gloves and couldn't. It was easier to pull out the plug.

Haha, OK I was away for the holidays so I may have missed a few cold ones. My thermometer was showing 40 on the BB. That felt the coldest to me so far this year. I only check when I'm feeling it so for whatever reason today got to me.

Not needing the heated gear yet but I was just saying I felt cold. Picked up a balaclava this year and haven't worn it yet but maybe its time to break it out.

Wasn't trying to start a pissing contest :laughing

I rarely wear my neck warmer, it's just one extra thing and my commute isn't that long these days. Having a beard helps too. :laughing I'm pretty warm-blooded, but it seems like I always feel a bit colder in the evening than in the morning.

I have thought of putting heated grips on my bike - I don't like wearing winter gloves very much.

Get the heated grips, you'll wonder why you waited so long. I'll never go without them again, they are fantastic! On my list of favorite things, they are right up there with a snickerdoodle from Hot Cookie, beer and unicorns. Yep, they are that good.

Glad I didn't have to do the commute to Marin today, I was freezing on the short ride to Robbie's place :)thumbup mototireguy) for a tire change. Brrr.

BTW - does anyone else end up with tears running down their cheeks from the chill coming in through their visor?

Yes, when I ride with the shield open to keep it from fogging up in traffic - it's that or hold my breath at lights.

True dat. Today was damn cold, I really felt it heading into RWC up to Hillsborough on 280. Just got back from lunch at the Ferry Bldg, its just blistering cold out.

I finally installed heated grips last year. Couldn't take it anymore. Glad I did, they are hand savers :nerd

What a bunch of weenies! You do realize that people go downhill skiing in much colder weather than this, and they don't wear heated vests or have heated grips on their ski poles.

Put on some layers under your jacket, wear decent riding pants (I don't even need the liners in mine they are so warm), wear ski gloves (a lot like bike gloves, but not so ridiculously priced), and a balaclava under your helmet and go for it! Just be sure no skin is exposed, and let a little air vent into your helmet so your visor doesn't fog. I commute across the Bay Bridge, and did so this morning, and am never uncomfortably cold.

Now, I have been cold, but that was when I was skiing down the Monte Rosa during a blizzard when it was about 15 deg. F. Then there was also the time I was in upstate NY, it was 6 AM, I needed to report for duty, and was trying for an hour to get my Austin Healey 3000 to start in -25 deg. F weather. THAT was cold. Riding across the Bay Bridge is never cold if you just wear a little extra.

Yeh but when I'm sliding down hill at 80 mph plus it only takes a few min to get to the lodge...........not a phucking hour!:laughing

And no matter how much exercise I get turning off the key, I find a good run down hill burns more energy.

Geez man, I don't think anyone is saying it's too cold to ride. I know I wasn't. I was just commenting that it was colder than normal this morning. My gear worked fine, but when its chilly it's chilly.

The post was just meant to see if anyone else thought it was cold today. Relax :twofinger

This is nothing; back when I was a kid, it was REALLY cold, motorcycles didn't need fairings because the ice buildup created the wind protection :x

and on a side note....
It's a good time to mentally review where you normally cross water in the road...and do some advance planning to make sure you're not braking/accelerating/leaned over, on those spots during these cold snaps :thumbup

Geez man, I was just yankin your chains, Guess you don't get sarcasm. Sorry, I grew up in NJ where learning to be a wise ass was a junior high graduation requirement.

Also, you guys are weenies.

That was you? I thought the Michelin Man was crossing the Bridge. I have stories on par with yours but in my ripe old age of 34, I have figured out that a $65 investment makes the ride a lot nicer. Sure I can get by without my gadgets...but why would I? I had my t-shirt, sweater, heated vest and leather jacket. Jeans with overpants. I was hot!

My seat was frozen this morning, I wiped off the ice and went to work only to find out that the seat cracked and split across the middle :mad

Now I need to get it fixed or at least find a cover for a 21 year old bike.
