Kauai - Part 1 - Waimea Canyon

Spent a couple of weeks in Kauai recently. Rented a KTM Duke 390, which was an excellent tool
for canyon carving.

Lots of viewing spots on the way up Waimea Canyon, but few with much parking.

I could probably look up the name of that waterfall in the background - but too lazy to do it.

At the end of the road. I'm sure that Gary856 would have ridden up this trail and parked on the edge of the cliff, but I'm trying to obey the rules.

The Hawaii Air National Guard can see way out in the ocean from up here.

Kauai - Part 2 - Other parts of the island

If I hadn't signed an agreement to not ride on any dirt roads, I would have headed out to Barking Sands Beach on this road.

One of my favorite restaurants on the island, in downtown Waimea.

Salt Pond Park.

Hanapepe, near a bunch of good art galleries. It's rare to see a bouganvillea vine as a tree, not supported by anything else.

Wouldn't want to miss the coffee plantation.

One of the good snorkel spots at Lawai Beach.

After church ride back home, the long way.

Ripping on a bumpy road and reminiscing about my dual-sport days, my top box went flying off. Strapped it down and kept going. Obligatory off road pic in San Juan Bautista.

Saturday morning

Picked up a passenger and two more motorcycles. Leaving Julian's house at 2 PM.

Highway 5 (or if you're from SoCal "The Five")

Luxury accommodations in the beautiful city of Lebec, CA, at the top of the grapevine. Numerous cables and chains with locks, disc brake locks, antitheft device on the trailer to detect the slightest motion, and removed one wheel off of the trailer.

This was in our area. The motorcycles were displayed all the way around that building.

I am humbled to have won "Best of Show" amongst all of the beautiful motorcycles at this very well organized event.

After unloading at Julian's house, getting parked at my house, it is 8:42 PM.

10 hours and 40 minutes truck time. 622 miles. 13.8 MPG.
