Radio Controlled Airplanes?

what's your budget? I'd recommend going as big as you can afford. especially if you're flying outside.

I don't really have a budget, but I was hoping to spend something in the $500 range. But, I am a solid proponent of the idea that once you buy the best you only cry once. So, paying more for something significantly better is not out of the question.

:laughing

Very true, you only cry once, but you cry REALLY hard and for a long time! :laughing Ask me how I know :(

Can one of you guys recommend a quad copter kit that is beefy enough to carry a gopro?

I would need everything including the controller.

Ask and you shall receive.

The prices are dropping like crazy, check out the HobbyKing.com site as well.

The cat, CrazyJ, on BayRC.com is a friend of mine and is a FREAKIN Expert on this subject- you can get tons of info from him as well. He sold me one of his P-51 Mustangs. He's a great guy.

Bayrc.com is a great local resource for all of your rc needs. Many of the members fly at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale each weekend morning.

Anyone notice people getting all bitchy at you when flying at a park?

I went out last night at about 8:30PM, as the sun was setting and the wind was basically nothing. There was one woman on a giant double-soccer field, so I set up on the far end.

The instant I got it out of my car, she came over and told me she was going to have to stop walking her dogs when I started flying because they would "chase it."

I told her "Unless they can fly I'm not too concerned with them chasing it."

She was nice, but kept on about how her dogs would be affected, how "another guy flies over there" (pointing to a place where there is no safe place to belly-land a plane, his has wheels), etc, etc. Then not 10 minutes later, I hear a woman tell her daughter "not to go out there with that thing in the air!" as she wanted to walk over towards me.

WTF? I mean, I don't care, I'll fly the damn thing anyway, but what's with people?

People are often ignorant about R/C in many ways. I once brought my heli to the park just to hover and to quickly test a new throttle governor and little kids kept rushing up wanting to stand UNDER it while it was hovering with the parents laying on a blanket watching unconcerned. I finally had to raise my voice forcefully to tell them to stand back and the parents told me not to yell at their kids...

To many, the "public" in public park only pertains to what _they_ deem is appropriate. I've been told to stop flying my kite at a park because it was bothering someone...

I know you are a LEO. But I would check thenlocal laws. In my town, there is only one place you can fly legally, and if she really wanted to be a pain in the ass, she could be.

If there isn't, just keep flying. Go buy her a bag of dicks, and hand them to her, while telling her "Why don't you take these and go play 'hide and go fuck yourself.'"

I'll be flying tomorrow morning most likely at Baylands park in Sunnyvale. (Unless Lefty makes me go all the way up to Redwood City.

I'll be they guy with one of these...

If you're interested in this

coupon code CPNPKZ5180 gives you $60 off

It's extremely aerobatic. They are being discontinued so they get a pretty decent discount. I wouldn't bother with this one at full price.

I need to get something that flies outside soon. All my micro copters are indoor only

Good call.

Municipal code here says:

Muni code said:
No person shall drive, putt or in any other fashion, play or practice golf or use golf balls, or fly model airplanes on or over land, or operate model boats or model automobiles, or model craft of any kind or description, or other activities that endanger or disturb persons in the park, except in areas set aside for these specific activities in accordance with rules and regulations prescribed by the Park Authority.

The problem is, there are no set guidelines anywhere viewable -- either at the park, or at the park website, or even at the park & rec office, of the RULES and locations of each park.

I guess I'll just have to be nice and do my best to be sure it doesn't become a "problem."

Generally I fly early enough that it's not, but who knows...

Looks like I will be at Baylands tomorrow. I'm an early bird as I like to fly when there is less wind and less people in the air. I'll be there from about 7 to 10.

I sent you a text. I cannot fly- I must work Saturday, but Sunday I'm free.

I wish I could. I would love to see that plane. I just bought the Durafly Corsair, but have yet to maiden it.

For anyone wanting to learn to fly helicopters I am selling 2 co-axial helos with one controller (operates both) for $30.

Both fly, one has a damaged rotor that makes for a vibration charged ride. I think the replacement is a couple bucks (I got it from my boss because he crashed more than flew it).

These are a couple of feet long, so not good for indoor flying.

Now I really need the space, picked up an RC10t4.1 this morning (brushless/lipo).

That thing rips!
