Radio Controlled Airplanes?

Maidened the p51. Meh. Not my cup of tea. It pitches up a lot in throttle so it'll need the thrust angle adjusted. I'll probably sell it for 100 bucks on rcgroups

Which P51? PZ P51D BL or something else?

Durafly P51 from HobbyKing. Costs ~170 shipped. Comes with retracts and flaps and lights. Overall it's not bad but I should have known better than to buy a warbird. All of them fly like wet noodles except the Trojan. Even the Parkzone ones aren't to my liking.

For anyone wanting to learn to fly helicopters I am selling 2 co-axial helos with one controller (operates both) for $30.

Both fly, one has a damaged rotor that makes for a vibration charged ride. I think the replacement is a couple bucks (I got it from my boss because he crashed more than flew it).

These are a couple of feet long, so not good for indoor flying.

Helos sold!

If you don't want to fiddle with engine mounts, does your radio do mixing? Just slave a little bit of elevator trim to throttle curve, or see if you can ballast a little to change CG.

I'm with Feanor.

Added a little straight pitch into my ghey cousin and he flies mostly straight now...
:twofinger

the CG is slightly too far forward as it is. I just made a mistake buying it. No big deal. Even if it flew straight under throttle it's too tame and pointless for me. I'm gonna buy another 3D plane next

I'd like to say "I'll take it!" but honestly, I'm not ready for a bigger plane yet. Still learning my mistakes with this one.

Speaking of which:

I was flying in some reasonable wind, maybe 10mph sustained with 15mph gusts... I was flying into a headwind a little too far away and the plane drifted a little. Just as I thought to myself "I can't really judge how close it is to those stadium light poles".... BOOM.

Hit pole #1, flat spinned and slammed into a telephone pole, then crumpled to the ground in a few pieces.

$5.00 5 minute Loctite epoxy to glue the nose back onto the fuselage, the "posts" to mount the wing, and a few other little parts that got knocked off -- plus a new prop, and all was well.

I was shocked to see it return to flying status in literally 10 minutes with such little effort. All of the servos still work, motor mount is solid, spins up just fine, no vibration, etc.

It was a worthy crash though....

Nice..glue and epoxy work wonders. I used to fly in a space with poles and trees and I stuck my old super cub into a tree. I swore it couldn't have been that close. Getting that thing down was an ordeal..about 50ft up. I don't even remember what we did.. Maybe nailed together some wood and made a longer piece of wood? :laughing

Haha!

I thought it was gonna catch on fire. It smacked the light post and continued horizontal at the same altitude until it traveled across the road, landing on top of a power pole's transformer and then broke up and fell to the bottom.

All of the pieces were just sitting in a nice pile about 500 yards from where I was standing, lol.

It's all back together now, ready to fly tomorrow.

This pic doesn't catch all the small pieces, like the mounting points with the dowels and all that kind of stuff which needed to be epoxied in place... but yeah.

By the way, when did iPhones start taking such horrible pictures? I swear my old iPhone original, or iPhone 3GS took fantastic almost unreal pictures. This thing is always fuzzy and shitty.

Still attached to the plane. :p

Was making a banking left and it just started rolling right instead. Lost radio control.

I'll have it fixed by the weekend.

I am still rockin 3gs. Apple screwed the photo software when they put in the software zoom features (~v4.3). Not to mention things have gotten slower and slower. In bright daylight they still take good pics but in medium to low light they are grainy and poor.

Var-

I am really interested in your P-51. I already have 3 Mustangs; 2 Parkzones and 1 Art Tech. Must resist the temptation to buy more crap.

Antarius- how is she flying after the repairs?

JackTheTripper- is your baby back together yet.

I put it up on RcGroups 120 bucks with a Zippy 2100mah battery (Admittedly not the best battery). It's missing the tail wheel although I did a couple of takeoff and landings without it just fine.

You guys can buy it if you want, but let me be the first to tell you I don't think it's that great. It's not fast, it flies so-so, but it sure is pretty. I must admit, at this price I would probably take it even though I'd recommend for you guys not to.

Again..to each his own. :thumbup
