Response from Woody at Live 105 regarding his statements on the air.

Hell, you can even come here and ask what would make a good newbie bike! :laughing

'BUSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:laughing :laughing :laughing

the words sound good, but they won't make this go away. i look forward to the words becoming actions.

About the Woody response

well....this is not something I am compelled to be positive about. So if you don't like negative comments you should stop reading this now....
***********************
...

next time some car-tard f*cks with me on my way down 280 to my humble little job, I will think of Woody, which of course is another word for dick.
And yes I do have a problem with car-tards who think our safety is a joke, and consequently drive like they are in a priviledged class.

My formula for true amends:
1. fire the prick
2. arrest him for appropriate criminal charges
3. make the station pay for any and all related damages caused by his on-air statements
4. Have the FCC apply appropriate sanctions, not to exclude the revocation of the broadcasting license of both Woody and the station

Then I might consider the suggested PSAs etc. as an addendum.

Sorry to be so harsh, but on this type of stuff, I don't belive in "do-overs". Particularly when it concerns the personal safety of so many.

I won't get one ( a do-over) if only one commuter follows his suggestion. I might be lucky to get a free wheelchair from social security, if I live.
Jim

I think Woody is making a good attempt to make things right, lets see how the PSAs come out and just chill out for now. I really hope you stick to your word Woody, because if you don't,you'll be making a real ass out of alot of people that are sticking up for you now. Don't dissapoint me.

I want to forgive the guy, but I don't think I can. I can't help but feel like he is just trying to remedy a problem rather then understanding what he said. His personality showed him not taking account for it after the comment was said (shiesty apology at first, 'out of context' blame, and an irrevalent proclamation of the law)

As a manager and business man, I can't forgive unless I see action towards recourse. I just hope none the less some good PSAs come about and thanks to all brothers and sisters who fought hard for this.

oops bump..

no shit

Dayamn, Henry! :laughing No mincing words for you. :p

Hmmmm....

I give a thumbs up for the long overdue apology.

I am rather curious as to why he could not/ would not post up himself.

I suppose using the main moderator as a representative is one way to help minimize negative responses.

Woody... Thanks for the apology.
Looking forward to the heartfelt follow up.

BUT... I would suggest you get out from behind the mirror and speak your mind "directly" to the group.

Thanks also to Budman for taking this Rhino by the reins and trying to steer it back into it's corral.

Now... let's hear about some thoughts from the forum members on Killer PSA ideas.

My thoughts...
1. Make the PSA as BOLD and directed as the initial statement.
2. Make the PSA directed at the "ignorant" motorist regarding lane splitting rights and safety.
3. Make the PSA last more than a week, or month.
4. Put the PSA out in "hard" format (i.e. billboards, stickers, etc)

One of the things I sent along to budman was related to an ongoing awareness campaign, which would hopefully continue on for quite some time.

Billboards are nice, but it seems that most folks give them a passing notice, the only reason I notice MC related billboards is because, well, they are MC related.

I think audio would work well, as you basically have a captive audience for the length of the announcement, instead of how long it takes the sign to go past.

Stickers or Ads in a paper would be nice, but that might be pushing it a little since they are a radio station, and devoted more to an audio format.

Kind of a "work with what they are good at" thing.

And personally, I can't see woody posting here, it would be pointless because every e-thug that has been reading these threads would rapidly pollute whatever he was posting about with rants, gnashing of teeth, and general crap.

It would be like waving a piece of steak in front of a pack of jackals. The only way the thread would survive is if you had to PM your comments to a mod first before they were posted.

And before people think I'm defending folks, cagers, etc...

Remember, I'm the guy that has been hit by cars more than most of you have had sex.

Henry ain't f'ing around! :laughing

But yeah, +1 on that.

Waiting to hear more

I know I’m new to this board, but I have read all post about this, even though it took two days. So here are my 2 cents…

I think it would be cool to see some follow-up on Woody’s progress on the MSF course.

You know he might see what biking is all about. I don’t know about SF with the traffic and all, but where I live bikers wave at one another and that’s because people on two wheels are sharing something…a good time. Also when bikes break down, other bikers stop to help out; at least that’s what I’ve always seen and done. Maybe some of this fellowship will rub off on Woody and he’ll learn exactly how this thing flew up in his face so quickly.

Woody thanks for doing your best to come clean. SF has got to be a tough place to learn to ride so stick to the country roads for a while. You know some of those cagers get kinda pissed at how the two wheelers can get around so easy and want to do them in…;)

Good Luck and Ride Safe

I was hoping for some improvement when Howard Stern left, but I come back from a few days away to hear that someone on 105 has actually encouraged people in cars to HARM motorcyclists.

I remain an avid motorcyclist (NOT a broad), I remain a cautious and courteous rider and lane sharer, and I am no longer a Live 105 listener.

I'm glad that something good is coming from this atrocity, but all I have to say to Woody and Live 105 is....

For Shame.

OK, finally this is working. I've been trying to log in all day with no luck.....which is why I sent my last post to Dennis (Budman) in the first place.

Not sure when and where I'll be taking the safety course yet....but when I do, you'll know.

I know there are some people here who will never forgive me no matter what I say or do at this point......but what can you do.

For the record.....at this point I've only made ONE really bad comment during all this......which is the initial one on the 12th....as bad as it was, no denial. SINCE then, realizing how stupid that was (I'm not beyond making mistakes obviously) I've given considerable airtime to clarifying that road rage in any form is wrong and that screwing with bikers on the roads is bullshit.

I would hope that if someone is shallow enough to blindly listen to some morning radio DJ making dumb comments for guidance, that the repeated retractions and clarifications would repeal their thought process.......what little there is to begin with.

Like I said, I'm more than happy to continue to help you in your mission to raise awareness of "moto" related issues (ie: lane splitting), and the reasons to appreciate the benefits of bikes on the roads means to us "cagers."

To the people who are still full of piss and venom, unwilling to even let me make good on my promises.......I hope you never make a mistake in your life, because when you do, and you honestly in your heart of hearts regret it, you'll hope that people can find it in them to give you another chance.

Yes, I'm new to California....but so are lots of other people here in the Bay Area. This is a transient city.....many outsiders moving in who aren't aware on the ins and outs of the community and its local laws. I can help you. Live 105 can help you. Honestly, the people at Live 105 are good people, unlike most in this business. They do lots to help the community and give back. They've been serving the Bay Area for MANY MANY years.......don't let one comment, as bad as it was, by one DJ (Me) ruin the good. Let me worry about making this good. Live 105 will support me in whatever it is I want to do.....they're just like that. Not much at this station comes from the top.....one of the reasons I decided to come work here.

One more thing. I saw on another thread about past radio crap that I've been involved with. Is it true? Yeah, some of it....but that's old stuff. Some of the details were inflated to say the least.....but again, another situation I've tried to learn from. That type of radio show died when Janet Jackson whipped out her coco-love mound during the Super Bowl. It's why Howard finally said "enough" and packed up and went to Sirius. I decided to "re-invent" the show. Ravey came on board, and it's different. Obviously it's still a bit edgy. The edge at this point comes from being more Non-PC than anything. No more naked chicks, no more graphic sex talk......ahem. :)

WHAT THEY GOT WRONG:

1) There was no hard-core pornography being given to kids like he/she claimed. We had a PRIVATE site that was run by a fan of the show who was posting uncensored pictures that had age verification software built into it......does that crap really work? Who knows.....but legally, it's on them if they lie and enter false dates of birth.

2) "Soft-core" was in reference to photos from a bikini and wet t-shirt contest we hosted at a sports bar......you'd see the same stuff in Sports Illustrated's Swim Suit Issue. The "porn" label came from the bible beating crusader who probably thinks women showing their belly is pornographic. Idiots.

3) We never advocated the rape or violence of women. Jesus H. They made the argument for that because of a link on our page of a website that sent people to a complete list of definitions for things like a "filthy Sanchez" or Cleveland Steamer. Mature? No. But our target demo at the time was 25 year old men......judging by the ratings, they thought it was funny. But again, taking something and blowing it up to "advocating rape?" C'mon, please. It's called the Rolodex of love.....do a Google, you'll see exactly what I mean.....it's not like we made this stuff up......lol.

So you can see what I mean here. The past is the past, and all I can do is worry about the future. By the way.....I didn't appreciate the one poster who said that I was calling for people to open doors on bikers, take a picture of the carnage, and then send it in for a prize? Holy hell? Who's got a bigger problem, me? or you for even blowing that up like that? What's the matter, the statement as is (joking or not) wasn't extreme enough for you? If that's the case I'm surprised you didn't try to lump kids in there somewhere........my god! :)

OK......I've been typing for a while. If anyone has any other questions, or suggestions (other than you're an asshole Woody, go fuck yourself) you can email me at WTRLive105@aol.com

To the people here who are giving me another shot......I appreciate it. I'll follow through on my word.

To the others.......don't know what else to say.

OH.....and sorry for the form letter....I couldn't figure out how to post on here, and the emails were coming in like mad. I wanted to get back to everyone and figured SOME type of response was better than hearing NOTHING back at all.

........now I'm out....

Take care!

Woody
Live 105

One more thing....sorry, I know I said I was done.

Broad is a bad word now too? Bitch I get, but broad? Is biker chick a no no as well?

I think the fact that Frank Sinatra used the term broad made it cool, acceptable and sexy....if I were a "lady" that would be good enough for me.
