Response from Woody at Live 105 regarding his statements on the air.

Good response from Woody. Hopefully we can turn this man into a believer of 2 wheel fun.

WOODY,......IF YOU DO DECIDE TO RIDE, DON'T GET THE CRG SHORTY LEVERS.........THEY KLL PEOPLE WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!!111!!!

Woody, the only other thing I would add is that when you have the PSA or talk about lane sharing, mentioning that it's legal is NOT enough. I think drivers need to know why it's a good idea to do so. I myself have an air-cooled bike that does overheat when it's sitting still with the engine idling. I've also been rearended by an inattentive driver and would've taken a lot of the brunt if I was in the middle instead of off-center. This is why I'm a firm believer in lane sharing. Also, motorcycles waiting in line takes up space that further lengthens the traffic.

I mean, a Yak, a tranny, and Benders in one night? Please. :x

humph! you forgot about turkey burnouts big daddy.

I mean, what's so hard about shaving a yak......shifting a tranny and emptying the pbr stock at benders? not in that particular order mind you.

I like Woody because he said "coco-love mound"....

:laughing

btw, he's right. at this point he and his station CAN help us, if we all back down and allow it to happen.

One more thing....sorry, I know I said I was done.

Broad is a bad word now too? Bitch I get, but broad? Is biker chick a no no as well?

I think the fact that Frank Sinatra used the term broad made it cool, acceptable and sexy....if I were a "lady" that would be good enough for me.

Cool for owning up!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Your show is not edgy. Its boring, play more music............

...realizing how stupid that was (I'm not beyond making mistakes obviously) I've given considerable airtime to clarifying that road rage in any form is wrong and that screwing with bikers on the roads is bullshit.

I would hope that ... repeated retractions and clarifications would repeal their thought process.......what little there is to begin with.

...I decided to "re-invent" the show. Ravey came on board, and it's different. Obviously it's still a bit edgy. The edge at this point comes from being more Non-PC than anything...

I for one, am happy to accept the apology and am gratefull for the attitude change and the intent to make positive awareness messages part of the solution. From the motorcycle perspective, I think we're all good.

But the big part I don't understand, either in Woody or in what often seems a majority of the population, was well said by Vguy01:

It's this 'drag everyone down to the lowest common denominator' mentallity that baffles me. Always has. On the radio show, it was people frustrated that others (on bikes) were moving more efficiently than they were. Solution? Stop them.

For the life of me, I don't understand this thought process. But if I were running a radio show, I'd put some thought into what exactly is PC and what isn't. It's a bit like tatoos. Are they a symbol of rebellion against social norms? I sure don't see them that way. To me they're a pervasive uniform of conformity. Get ahead of the curve and tell young listeners that doing things differently is not a bad thing. You want a radio show with edge? Turn up the brains behind the microphones, and go against the grain when it's smart to do so.

Listeners who call in and complain about lane splitting are no different than people complaining about I.Q.'s that are above 60, or NFL playoffs which feature extraordinary athletes, or cell phone networks that are functional and cheap. Such people would seem to favor the lobotomizing of the smart, the crippling of the talented, and the destruction of the efficient. Fuck them and the horse they rode in on, eternally. And distance yourself from them. On the air. You'll feel better, and smarter.

Damn, yer a tough broad :laughing :laughing

Kidding.

One thing I learned from watching UHF: Never call chicks broads.

I finally got around to reading this thread, I think the apology and the direction Woody's going is just fine. :thumbup

Woody has been trying to post.. I think I got him fixed.
And he should be going.. soon.

Please edit this post or I will have to suspend for a day.. Mr. Slowpoke.. Sorry man.

:smoking

Edited as requested. Usually I wouldn't care since it's only a 1 dayer, but you called me Mr. rather than Hey Dickhead, I'll oblige:twofinger

Woody,

Good on you for posting with your own account. I can't speak for anyone in this place, but I accept your apology. To me it's more sincere that you posted it rather than having someone else cut and paste.

I guess the reason why I blew up was because of personal experience with asshole drivers. Someone on this board that I care greatly about was almost killed last year due to road rage. Why? Because the little shit could. That's what we have to deal with out there. They fuck with us because they could. There's at least 1 time a day (on the days I do ride:toothless) that I'm almost turned into a big red splatter on the road. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes due to cagers not paying attention (drinking coffee, applying make-up, talking on the celly). Blah...enough of this shit. I'm sure you've heard all the stories already.

Good luck on your MSF course. And I hope that this just won't be a "stunt" where you just get your license and ride for a day and call it quits. Actually, you need to ride for at least a week to feel the full rage of the cagers out there:laughing

If you're ever not busy on a Wednesday evening, come by the San Francisco Wednesday meets. I'll buy you a beer...

...even though I think your show sucks:twofinger

I keed...I keed...

Woody's comments, apology and my 2 cents

I am a 30+ year rider and a new BARF member. I must honestly say that I joined BARF as a result of Woody’s comments. I’ve read a lot of the posts and I’m impressed and amazed at the coordination of the group to get the results that have been achieved in such a short time. I’d like to offer my 2 cents in the hopes that what has transpired can continue to be used in a positive and informative way.

Even though I’ve been riding for many years and lane-splitting for mostly all of these years I’m still a bit confused as to what does “Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible but must be done in a safe and prudent manner” actually mean. Does it mean you can only split/share at or below a certain speed? Does it mean you cannot split/share above a certain mph than the flow of traffic? Also, is it subjective to the individual officer’s interpretation of “safe and prudent”?

Therefore, if Woody is offering PSA’s to inform the public about the fact that lane splitting/sharing is permissible, would it make sense to get a representative from the California Highway Patrol to explain on-air to both the cager and rider community what exactly “safe and prudent” lane splitting is? I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering what a CHP officer would be looking for in order to stop a rider and ticket us for “unsafe” lane splitting.

Also, maybe Live 105 would like to provide reminders to the public that lane splitting is permissible under California law in the form of messages on their numerous billboards we see along the highway.

Does anyone else think information like this would be beneficial to both communities?

PS. Since this is my 1st attempt at posting hopefully it ends up in the right forum.

No,
No,
and a very big YES.

There are no actual speeds defined, so indeed it is up to the issuing officer. Chances are that you would receive such a ticket by a motorcycle officer. I think they better than others would have a pretty good idea on what would constitute "safe and prudent".

(Email sent to Live 105)

Woody,

I was one of the people outside Live 105 Friday. One of your sales guys was chatting with us while we were there and he asked us what it was we wanted. I told him that what *I* wanted was an honest to god, reach down and grab a pair, applogy. And then some PSAs to ballance out the damage you did.

With your message on BARF and the fact that you stuck around, read the responses and posted replies, you've done the first one of those without question. It would have been easy to keep your head down and hope this blew over, you did the stand up thing and no matter how upset any of us were with you, that deserves respect.

The second, it sounds like you have on the way, I understand that it takes time to get these things in place so we'll look forward to hearing them at some point in the near future. I hope you won't let us down.

Pesonaly, I'm satisfied. Good luck with the MSF class, it's a lot of fun.

The power of unity can truly overcome the most formidable obstacles. Such comradery is nowhere more abundant than in our sport -- whether it be in assisting a fallen rider, or spending a Sunday carving the twisties with a group of motorcyclists you, for the first time, met at the 76 Station earlier that morning. In this particular circumstance, we assembled to collectively protest a potential threat to the safety of our already venturesome hobby and were for the most part successful… sorry, I’m getting emotional...:cry I accidentally swallowed my gf’s birth control pills this morning.:p :cry

Woody, kudos to you for owing up to a mistake, apologizing and willing to learn more about our sport. :)

Hey Woody
thanks for steppin up and making a mends.
all is well and I hope to see you out on the roads riding soon.

Dan.
