Nice pics dude. How is it at your new home?

Thanks man. We love it over here. It took a while to get settled but we got some wheels and a really nice house overlooking the east China sea. We are still in a hotel but we get to move in on the 1st of Sept.

The wildlife is incredible and the ocean is crystal clear. Plenty of opportunities for great pics. Snorkeling/scuba is incredible. I'm working on getting an underwater housing for my camera so that I can capture some of the underwater awesomeness.

Nice. I would like to live in Japan if I have the opportunity. I went to Tokyo back in 2009 and still been wanting to go again.

For that trip I had the Nikon D80 with the Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8(which I still use this lens today.), Nikkor 50mm f1.8, and the Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 lens. But I don't have the D80, 50mm or the 55-200mm any more. I replace them with the Nikon D300, 35mm f1.8, and 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 lens. Pretty soon I want to replace my D300 with the D700.

Great stuff JD! I've been living in Sapporo for the past 10 weeks. It's been great, but I haven't had time to travel around Japan. I'm going to tack a couple weeks on the end of my next research trip and get around a bit more.

Check out my Japan pictures here:

I just picked up a used DSLR and my noobie ass went out and started playing a bit. Stills and action for the first time. Derby pic was this last Saturday in South lake Tahoe. Cloud cover was weird and changing by the second

Best way to learn, play and play and play.... read about something, go try it.... then try the last few things you read about too...

I'm still learning but when I was recently purging my photo library I noticed a marked improvement in 12 months of playing.

Enjoy! :party

Reading books about photography is the best way to improve. Well, for me it was. Like the best time to take pictures of flowers is when there is overcast clouds. On a clear day the sun will bleach out the colors of the flowers, but on a overcast day(specially after it rains) the colors of the flowers are at it's fullest. If there is no rain, just take a bottle of water and splash it on the flower.
Something like this.

These images don't show in my browser but I can get them when I copy the links. Is it because they're secure links? Firefox, latest version.
