So, Dave Ramsey....on car buying....

You all know here that I stay out of all the political discussions. But I’ll indulge this a little. The thread has already taken some political leanings so hopefully this doesn’t push it over the edge to p-trap land.

Ehhhhhh. Don’t really have a choice about it. Even though I don’t need it, I’d still gladly take a handout from the gubamint like most everyone else is. And I know the $1600 or whatever it is certainly isn’t meant to live off of, though some have used it to keep their head above water. It’s a stimulus payment meant to stimulate the economy. And most people are doing exactly that with their stimmy bucks. I hear from lots of people in the car business (especially in the gen pop brands), that they’ve been seeing record sales recently. Hell in my own dealership, one of the parts kids is using his stimmy bucks to go lease a new Civic this weekend.

I’m no economy wizard. But I’m pretty sure that in the end, we will all be paying for this stimulus money they’re handing out with our tax dollars. Since I don’t qualify for the stimmy bucks, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that I’m in a higher tax bracket than someone who does qualify. Which means I’m throwing more in the pot. But not getting any back. So I’m helping the parts kid get a new car. All those people I just saw lined up outside the Louis Vuitton and Gucci stores at the mall? Buying new luxury goods on my dime. Gimme some of that stimulus money dammit. I’ll go out and stimulate the shit out of the economy with it! Sigh. I dunno. Just the whole Robin Hood aspect of take from me and give it to those who don’t make as much...kinda gets me a little butt hurt. A little.

Meanwhile. My mother, who has way more money than I do...her only income has been SSI, so of course she’s gotten every stimulus payment. Psssh. Go figure. She didn’t even want it, so she has donated it all.

The stimulus $ probably appeals like getting a tax refund, just a check in the mail no matter where it came from. I think it’s important to know where it comes from and as a taxpayer for the majority of my life I like to think I know. I’m below the BARF average on economics so I used the $ and payed bills like usual. Heading where you were avoiding I think feel good votes gets me stimulus and extended unemployment just like a corporate tax increase cost me in consumption.
On an up note it’s allowed me to live and consume in California so some of y’all reap that benefit.
In all seriousness thank you Rob and taxpayers for the redistribution $.:thumbup

I don't get stimmy bucks and I'm perfectly fine with others getting theirs.

I never applied for a loan to go to college or trade school and I'm perfectly fine with the predatory loans being cancelled.

Why would I want someone else to have a shitty life just because I didn't get a particular handout or gift? Doesn't affect me at all. And the "oh no it's gonna cost me and I don't get the benefit" line is laughable in the face of trillion dollar military spending. Y'all get any of that action? It's the vast majority of your tax dollars but I never ever ever see any posts about dialing back that spending.
Any posts about the 3 trillion dollars dumped into a handful of billionaire's pockets the stock market last year? No?
But the poors getting a small bucket of shiny stuff for free is unacceptable.

it's an extension of the "Fuck you I got mine" attitude.

The perception of others getting something they don't pisses them off.

Huh? What free gift did I get from the government for not taking a student loan and working in the trades instead? If anything you want free money and are pissed that the uneducated want something, too.

You haven’t convinced me of anything and you act entitled and mad that someone else wants the same free money you’re asking for.

ITT I learned that people actually want their “student” loans paid off by the government for free. Totally free.

You don't know what you're talking about dude. Good lord.

I don't have student loans. I never have. I've done just fine for myself without a college degree.

Student loan forgiveness doesn't affect me one bit. It helps out a whole fucking lot of people that badly need it, though.

Not sure why that makes you so upset, aside from your perception of not getting anything when someone else does.

ITT I learned there are people that demand any favor given to others is given to them regardless of need.

Imagine what loan forgiveness would do to the economy!! Suddenly there will be hoards of people with money to spend on all kinds of things.

I don't have school loans either. But I did get a stimmy.

I bought a 2018 car recently from a EcoPark in Long Beach. The salesman said that the stimulus payments causes a rush. What?!

This dealer only has 3 year old and newer cars and the lot was filled with like new Mercedes, BMW, premium cars. I guessing most cars are $20,000+. My car was probably the cheapest one. :laughing.

I'm wondering who is getting a stimulus check and using it on a $20,000+ car?

People who are putting $1400 down and financing the rest. :dunno

I would bet that it's a small but noticeable percentage of people that qualify for the stimulus check. Like 'welfare queens eating prime rib and lobster tails' when the number of those incidents pale in comparison to the people receiving benefits and use them to make ends meet.

S'ok, rich people make poor decisions that we pay for through our taxes so it evens out. :thumbup

And I’d say that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

That’s at least the third time you’re telling me that I’m upset/pissed, lol.

A lot of people need help, what about those to at have been in hunger and poverty forever? I’d help them first, even if they have student loans. ;)

But paying off everyone’s school? I’ll disagree on that for now unless you can convince me. I’m here to learn.

Not sensitive, just calling you out on your hypocritical bullshit.

Don't forget your meds again........:rofl

I make an innocuous joke and you fly off the handle.:rolleyes
There was no hypocrisy and no bullshit. Just a joke. Not even at your expense..:wtf

Lots of people. It's a down payment.
I personally know some one with three kids. Got $3700 first round, $3000 second round and $7000 third round. Any one of these would be a down payment on a $20K vehicle.:wow

BTW this person has never missed a paycheck, and makes six figures. Just under the threshold.

Maybe you should stop projecting, and learn to read. ;)
I didn't "fly off the handle" about your joke. I directly quoted you going off on Kurasaki. ;)

Maybe your memory is starting to go, but this is what I replied to:
Get a life. I believe that this is my first mention of the jerk. You don't need to respond to my posts, if you don't have anything constructive to say. But your assertions are getting tiring.:rolleyes

His life is funny, in a serio-comic way.......:wtf

This was my "off the handle reply"
You parachuted in to a thread with a random political swipe. Maybe you shouldn't throw stones in a glass house with this talk about "constructive".

To summarize. Maybe take up your own advice, and. :)
Don't forget your meds again........:rofl
