Someone explain Britney Spear's conservatorship deal!

When that judgement was made, she was like, in a mental institution level of breakdown. That is when the divorce happened and the judgement was made. She was in the process of being locked in a literal looney bin. How is that not clear?
Also, the Family Law Court is extremely resistant to changing status quo. After the original judgment has been made, you can only accomplish tiny modifications.

Turns out, her lawyer was appointed by the original judge 13 years ago and she has not been allowed to choose one of her choice, something that is completely against the whole statute. I smell a bunch of very big rats, especially her court appointed lawyer.

I think this case is going to blow up and a bunch of people are going to get investigated for ethics violations, there is too much attention on this case now.

Britney Spears has been pushing her attorney to petition to end her conservatorship in days since hearing

Bruh, when the judgement went down she was worth like $50m. She has earned like $120m since then while under control. Of course this is a deep dickin double doggystyle of corruption.

Guys, this is a grand example of why the state should never have too much power over the individual.

1/3, 2/3 I stand corrected. Still find it hard to understand K Feds’ majority share. She had more and better lawyers and still ended up on the short end

She ended up on the short end......................Think about it.:rolleyes

Seems ok to me. There is a handful of homeless people who just destroy everything they touch. They terrorize the rest of the homeless people and make life maximally difficult for everyone.

Sure, just remeber that the same rules that apply to, "them," also apply to you too in whatever context the people in charge at the time decides they do.

Fair point. So what is the solution? How do you deal with someone who is unwilling or unable to get help due to mental issues that are probably made worse by alcohol and drug use?

How about years later after they have long since dealt with the problem?

This nation has a long and disgusting history of singers exploited by their managers.

Does sound very fishy; regardless of actual mental capacity, the ability to change representation is fairly fundamental.

I was referring to homeless, but I guess it also applies to other people.

That is a good question. I have made a lot of suggestions over the years about massive systemic changes to eliminate the homeless problem, but no one is interested in that much expensive change.

For this particular law, it honestly doesn't look THAT BAD, but the nature of it is still kind of uncomfortable, you know?

I think you're on the right track: we've got tackle how we treat alcohol and drugs in this country. I've long proposed mandating an ID check for alcohol purchases and push for a system where alcohol can be restricted from individuals as it is for underage kids.

Drugs? We're gonna need to start executing drug dealers wholesale....

kill the roots would be more effective than the branches imo

I'm not sure how this relates to Britney Spears. However, for homeless people, the evidence shows that the method most likely to work is to focus on creating a stable environment first and foremost (IE, provide for permanent or semi permanent housing and for basic needs), follow that with mental health therapy and addiction treatment as needed. By addiction treatment, I'm not talking about 12 step, which has shown to be marginal at best in effectiveness vs. nothing at all, I'm talking about drugs like Naltrexone or other drugs that are designed to treat addiction and help wean people off of drugs and/or alcohol. After that, gentle pushes and positive re-enforcement to steer people towards education and/or work.
