Someone explain Britney Spear's conservatorship deal!

Drugs? We're gonna need to start executing drug dealers wholesale....

I think you might benefit from some experimentation with psychedelics Berto. I'm forever down to talk to you about it. The above statement is frightening man.

Nope, sorry Mike. I can't find compassion for those who sell heroin and variants. Personal reasons.

Now DMT...that one does intrigue.

I think you're on the right track: we've got tackle how we treat alcohol and drugs in this country. I've long proposed mandating an ID check for alcohol purchases and push for a system where alcohol can be restricted from individuals as it is for underage kids.

I think I would be down with that provided we start with the Sacklers and anyone administering large volumes of shares in Purdue Pharma. Have all of their wealth reverted to a trust for paying out claims for dealing with the addiction crisis they created. We can move on to the other drug kingpins who pushed opioids on our populace after that.

Fine with that too! Need national legalization of marijuana first, though.

Some poor pharmacist is gonna get blasted by Berto's goons for pushing ibuprofen if he doesn't specify what he means by 'drugs'. :laughing

Why? Drugs should be 100% Legalized, regulated, and taxed. :dunno The Portuguese model is already proven.

The creation of black markets only creates violent crime and empowers criminals. We have known this in gruesome detail for 100 years.

The liquor lobby was too strong for over 1/2 century, they got their money's worth from their pets.

Well, I can't get on board with executions. As long as there is an economic incentive to sell drugs they will be sold. Take away the incentives to sell drugs and less drugs will be sold and consumed. I know that's cold comfort to anyone whos life has been wrecked by a loved one with an addiction.

Wut? every time I've had an open bar party the booze evaporates faster than acetone...

Certain places and certain populations. American ain't one of them...as much as I'd love and used to be very libertarian about drug use. Now, if we were allowed to defend ourselves and property unrestrained in private and public, then we've got a place to start talking...

Agree. Addiction and free? Can you say internet porn?

The Portuguese model didn't start 20 years ago as a fun experiment, it started because addicts and narco related violence was a problem out of control for them.

We have already seen this play out in this country with Prohibition with similar results to the Portuguese model. It can again be seen similarly with Prostitution in NV. Creating Black Markets only does harm to a Capitalist Society. License, regulate, tax, and control simply makes a better overall system.

The biggest problem we would have as a result of using the Portuguese model is a worsening border crisis as tens of billions of dollars in narco money is robbed from the economies of Latin American Countries.

Everyone is always complaining about gun violence. Ending street drug dealing would literally cut our firearms violence in half.

At the end of the day, most people will not willingly give up the gravy train.

Her baby daddy is getting $$$$$$ by having custody of their child, the less time she gets the more $$$$ he gets, that's one of the dirty little secrets of Family Law and a big reason why co-parents of celebrities (and their lawyers) work so hard to get maximum custody.

Then there is her father, who quite clearly is in it for the money and control, regardless of what he says, he enjoys the power and the lifestyle far more than he cares about his daughter.

Her own lawyer is on the gravy train and is stalling like crazy to milk it for all it's worth. I can't believe she has been forced to keep using this asshole.

Her baby daddy was pushing for more cash a few years ago saying $60k/month was not enough to live on. Bish, you fools live in SE Washington, you can live like a king on $60k a year out there. :laughing

knowing nothing about the laws that govern conservatorship, it's a bit hard to believe that a Court would allow one adult to take complete control over another adult, without a fairly compelling basis for making such an order. I would also be shocked if the system didn't go out of it's way to make sure a person like her received adequate legal counsel/representation throughout the whole process.

Britney is probably a nice and decent person who sadly lacks the mental tools required to take care of her rather complex life. For medical privacy reasons, there is probably a lot of hairy details the public doesn't know about. Also at any point Britney could've searched google for "how to end a conservatorship" and seen a thousand articles that say how to do it. Seems like her past attorney has told her that it is unlikely, for whatever reasons she wanted to provide, that she could get out of the conservatorship, and she interpreted that to mean "you can't get out of the conservatorship." Attorneys like billable hours so they are not going to advise otherwise unless it's pretty clear the motion will fail.

+100

I always find American's fascination with celebrity disturbing and disappointing. I can appreciate concerns with the legal process, but debating the finer points of this case seems silly since we clearly don't have access to all the pertinent facts.

Maybe Britney just needs to run for Governor of CA?

Yeah, the court system has no cap on what they can get, and greed is rampant with these parasites, the court should have cut his child support in half for that kind of shit. I'll bet he spends less than 5% of that on the kid.

I don't think it's going to end with just that, greedy people never willingly give up their golden goose, he's probably already set up things to keep the money flowing.
