Terrible penalty call, but it's Vancouver, so fuck it haha. Regardless, we were going to win that series and the sweep makes it that much sweeter. Loving how the rest of Canada is celebrating Vancouver's demise haha

Torres is playing very well for the Sharks; congratulations on advancing to the second round! :thumbup

I felt like I died and went to heaven last night. Bieksa takes the stupid penalty that lets the Sharks back in the game (and there was no way the Sharks were gonna lose after that 3rd goal, regardless of the awful call on Sedin in OT), and then Ellen Vignault appears near tears in the post-game news conference. Fucking gold.

Sorry, but that sweep couldn't have happened to a bigger bunch of douchebags unless you cloned an entire team of Steve Ott's, coached by Steve Ott. Fuck the Canucks and their goofball, obnoxious fans. I am so happy that this core group of pricks never won a Cup. They've played the game the wrong way for too long and it really would have sucked if they got rewarded for it. I'm still getting over the year the cheap shot Ducks won it all; I would have lost faith if the Sucks had done so as well.

I really hope we get the Hawks next round. Not only because we'd have to go through them anyway and I'd rather it be when we're fresh, but also because at least the series will be fun to watch. Playing St. Louis or L.A. is just going to be a fucking root canal.

Careful what you wish for. :twofinger

Also, I like bruising, physical hockey, so a series featuring the Blues and/or Kings is just fine in my book. That said, I'm glad both those teams are playing each other, and in the first round no less (may their series go a full, agonizing 7 games).

Speaking of bruising physical hockey, NOT, my Wings play game 5 tonight in Anacrime while Abdelkader sits his second game of the 2 game suspension. Six weeks ago when Babcock put Abs on the top line with Datsyuk I thought coach might be grasping at straws to light a fire under a team that didn't look like it was going to make the playoffs. Then it turned out the two had really good chemistry out there on the ice, and the line became a fixture.

For many years a small but vocal portion of us Wings fans have been calling for the team to play more of its younger players, instead of always signing a couple of veterans at the trade deadline or in the off season to complement the core of the team. This year, via the wrath of an epic rash of injuries, the Wings were forced to play their rookies, and many of them looked absolutely ready to play at the NHL level, and several of them have taken roster spots away from NHL-regulars (e.g. Ian White who's been riding the pine).

So we'll see which team shows up the most hungry for the win tonight, and whether that actually earns them the win or not.

ahaha Bieksa in the box on the equalizing goal was irony at its finest. Honestly, it's hard to find a team/management/fanbase that bitches and whines more than Vancouver.

Kings/Blues series looks brutal. At times, it seems the puck is secondary to the game haha.

Wings looked pretty good last game. Monster hit by Kronwall. Fortunately, 51 saw it coming to minimize damage, otherwise, he would have been murdered.

Also, still boggles my mind Pavelski is our 3rd line center and Gomez is our 4th line center :laughing Too bad we only have Gomez for this year. I think his veteran presence and leadership has really transformed Desjardins' game.

^ Corey Perry. Shocked. Guy will always be nothing but a punk, no matter how many goals he scores.

That video game gif is hilarious!

Exact reason why Ovi will always be known as a great GOAL scorer, but not a great player.

Maybe. He sucked the last two years.. Not sure why he changed? Maybe Boudroux leaving, he seems like a duntz. Obviously, not. Ducks even better under him, than Carlyle. Who took the Leafs further than recent times..

Islanders knocked out by the Pens in OT. Hell of an effort by the Isles, welcome back to the post-season after 6 years. My personal underdog team.

I think the Kings will be a little slower and beat up. May favor us. The Sharks will need to do this in 5 or less and get some time to rest before, assuming they face the Hawks. IF they get the Red Wings, I think we're in real good shape. But I don't think that will happen. I think the Hawks will take their series in 4 or 5.

Looking at the way things are going in the East, I'm really surprised. Ottawa, wow! And I thought the Bruins would have steamrolled the Leafs, but nope. I hope the Leafs win now. Kinda hoping the Rangers pull it off, but would like to see the Caps go deep as well, so torn there.

that youtube clip looks pretty damning honestly, but I didn't see the game.

I did take in a bit of game 6...and I saw an Ovi that was blocking shots, hitting and taking hits to make plays, and generally trying to do everything we all value in playoff hockey. it wasn't enough, but I wouldn't fault Ovi's workmanship on the loss. like I said, perhaps game 5 was different. the clip sure looked bad.

I can't imagine LA vs SJ will go anything less than 6...but I wouldn't complain if it was SJ who came out of the round a little early.

....

at this point, my question when thinking of SJ is: are they REALLY that good? or was VAN slumping? seems to me to mirror a bit of the start for the team this regular season. they were great, but the opposition wasn't all there. then reality set in...

we will see very soon. LA, most assuredly, is NOT slumping. at their worst, they will be a mighty challenge. SJ won't get out of it unscathed, and they are already thin on forwards.

that said, I think it's great SJ got a lot of rest and will be a touch fresher to start the series. I'm also glad they are in LA to start, because that means they can win only one of two and the pressure would be on LA for losing at home.

I feel game 7. I feel Niemi outduelling Quick and Marleau winning it. everything that happens in between, I'm not sure of.

LETS GO SHARKS
