The Official 2012 NFL Thread

damn, McKenzie just gave up Bruce Campbell for a backup RB from CAR that I haven't heard of. not really happy about that.

Goodson? He was pretty awesome in the limited playing time he had. Quick, open field RB with good hands, who will do wonders to spell McFadden if (when?) he gets injured. Better #2 than paying out more to Bush, that's for sure.

I heard Campbell wasn't living up to the hype anyway?

I think he just needed another year...he's only been in the league two, and he was a bit raw coming out of college and was to be a project player. if you intend on getting a player like that, you should at least stick it out with him to see if he can deliver in his 3rd year I'd think.

Yeah, but no tragedy if this RB works out, right?

yeah, in a way, because that'll mean the o-line is performing in front of the RBs. why keep a guy the 1st two years then, only to let him go when he should start becoming productive, as the scouting reports dictated? it feels like OAK did all the donkey work suffering through the growing pains and getting the guy ready to play, and now that it's his time to produce, they trade him to another team.

but it could very well be just that because Campbell was a project of the old regime...the new regime will have their own projects.

or it could be that upon evaluation, they decided he wasn't progressing fast enough. as I am not a o-line coach, that may very well be possible.

he was overhyped going into the draft because he had a great combine which included (guess what?) a great 40. there was even talk of him going in the first that year.
who still wears thigh and knee pads these days?

and they don't seem to have a stripe on the side of the pants

I believe the NFL has been considering mandating them for a while now....

(They tabled it last year right before last season saying they'd revisit for the 2012 season.)
kind of odd really. players have gotten bigger and faster, and they've gone to less protection, oftentimes nothing below the waist and smaller shoulder pads.

the modified Seahawk's uni's are actually pretty sharp. every other uni is basically the same, just new fabric and textures with a few updated details.

Thank you! Given that the Hawks are the closest NFL team to Nike's backyard, it makes sense for them to give them a bit of extra special love for the inaugural unis. Nice attention to detail giving the 12th man their due (markings on the neck and legs).

i think the team actually requested the extra treatment. owners, and then the league, have to specifically approve all changes.

either way, the metallic blue tops with the alt.white legs and little bits of green works well. i call that color, violent green. some people call it vomit green :laughing. it's jarring, but i like it (that could just be my Filipino half talking....).

A former San Francisco 49ers football player was arrested in Scottsdale on Sunday after he punched a bar security guard in the head, police said.

Scottsdale police arrested Dontavia Bogan, 23, around 10 p.m. Sunday at El Hefe Tacos, 4425 N. Saddlebag Trail.

The 49ers announced the release of the wide receiver on Friday, one day after Bogan was medically cleared to return to play after recovering from a knee injury.

:laughing

Eh. He was practice squad fodder who tore his knee up, went on IR, and then got cut. He might not have ever worn the actual uniform

I realize that, I just thought the picture made the story. Got his ass kicked by a couple of rent-a-cops.
