The Official 2012 NFL Thread

I don't see how the Niners can be anything but the hands down, all on, favorite to win the Superbowl this year. The Giants of course would win, but we're going to win it NEXT year, so we're going to rest this year.

The gist of that story seemed like that last year everything went perfect for the Niners, and the odds of having perfection two years in a row aren't too high.

And there's nothing else for NFL.com to talk about except fluffy filler stories like this since training camps are so far away. :laughing

It went really well for them. There were a lot of angry fuckers in Red when I was at the NFC Championship game who don't want to hear about everything going perfectly. :laughing

The reality is, they have the talent. The year before under Singletary, I remember telling Charmed, "WTF is wrong with your team. Even with REAL shitty coaching you guys should be winning 8 games this year." The next year they get better, added a decent coach and went to the championship game with a short off season. This year, their roster is EVEN BETTER and they have had a great winning season with a full off season under the new coach this time. I think they'll have a harder time this year because they aren't going to catch anyone by surprise and their schedule is fucking brutal, but if this pack of Niners isn't a heavy hitter in the playoffs this year, I'll be stunned.

What I've been asking about lately is Raiders predictions for next year in the new Peyton focused Division with a full season of Palmer under their belt. 8-8? 10-6? 12-4?

I'm think the Raiders will be average, they need a few years to adjust from all the cap trouble that Al Davis created trying to get one more championship before he died.

They might surprise, but I doubt it, and if this McKenzie guy is as brilliant as they say in 2 or 3 seasons they could have a power house

They probably meant more how they caught some breaks like Big Ben being hurt when Steelers came to town, the Saints played a killah schedule and both ended up with same 13-3 record but the Niners got the home field advantage and eeked out that surprising win against an unstoppable offense, Niners then get another break by hosting the NFC title game at home after Giants keep taking the ball away from the Packers...stuff like that when they meant perfect. :laughing

It's actually a curious situation, the Niners played classic "don't lose" football last year: run the ball down the other team's throat, keep the clock moving, aggressive ball-hawk defense stays fresh, manage the game without taking too many risks, keep the scores low, etc etc. So now this year they have added more offensive weapons....will they change their philosophy to a more pass-happy team that causes the clock to stop more so their defense has to spend more time on the field?

Isn't that why Peyton chose Denver? "You mean I get to play the Raiders' D twice a year? Where do I sign!" :p

Seems like simple logic that the Raiders' offense would be tons better after a proper training camp with Palmer at the helm though. They got as good as shot as anybody to take the AFC West.

there's just too many unknowns about the Raiders this year. are the players going to be receptive to the new coaching regime? is the new regime any good? Will Greg Knapp actually call decent plays this time around?

KC's going to be really good. Denver will be there. San Diego will improve. the Raiders? Unless I see something vastly different than what I'm thinking in the first couple of weeks, I'm seeing 6-10 and 4th in their division, honestly.

I keep telling people that it WAS NOT an advantage. If we had played in Jersey, we would have lost. The Giants win by fucking you in your own house while your wife is crying over you. When we play at home with the odds on us, we will lose, LOL.

i pity the bullets. the report failed to mention that the other people were wounded when the bullets ricocheted off his chest.

Seriously though, this could fuck your boys up. He REALLY electrified that infamous defense last year.

New coaching staff, lots of new players, game on! Can't be any worse than last year's 0-7 start. :laughing

Miami head coach lights up a reporter. SIC'EM coach!:p

I'm not talking about the scores. Your owner is a fucking fruitbat. All of Miami knows it. I would be worried about the dignity of your franchise being compromised, but maybe that's not the kind of thing every franchises fans worry about. Shit, the Eagles seem to deeply pride themselves on being a classless organization, which is why we hates them the mostest.
