The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

it's funny Jeddy-boi keeps saying the culture needs to change but the only common denominator in the front office and coaching group over the time frame of ineffective "culture" is him :laughing

what a fucking joke

the team will be fine financially, though. that's why PSL's exist. Niners get paid for seats and get to claim "sell out" events regardless of how many Niner fans actually go. they still get revenue sharing and TV ad revenue. they still sell the stadium as event space for concerts and corporate events. there will be no financial incentive for them to sell. period. :x :thumbdown

so while Rob Schnieder's offer sounds nice it's a pipe dream :nchantr

- my new campaign slogan - "just say no to Garapallo"
- for all of Darth Hoodie's power in the ways of the force, none of his disciples has ever played or coached at the same level once they left the The Imperial Palace on Coruscant
- that means "no" to McDaniels, too
- if Niners can get either of the Shanahans i'd like to see Kyle over Mike if we have to choose between them
- one of the GB player execs would be a great, lucky find

Well, Eliot Wolf actually agreed to interview for the job and he's got ties to the Bay Area. That would be a fantastic signing.

There were (are) actually rumors that GB are trying to get Ted Thompson to quasi-retire and move to a scouting role so they can promote Wolf to GM and keep him, so

It was his mom, not his aunt.

This is my issue. People want to spout off the snarky one liner crap, and they don't actually know any sort of detail, and more importantly it doesn't matter. All that matters is screaming louder than everybody else and getting heard first.

It sounds good though, and people say it on sports radio and twitter and stuff, so it must be true. Look at the shit coming out now that Kelly and Baalke are both fired.

Kawakami and both of the Cohns are complete hacks.

I don't really need to know the detail, I've studied enough management to know that the issue at the 49ers organization is at the top. So easy a Cal State Hayward grad can see it. :p :twofinger

Right. Hence my contempt. yes, there is a real world and we aren't privy to much of it. But what we can see is pretty obvious. He wants to make money, was unwilling to spend under-cap bux which makes me wonder if Marathe shouldn't go too IF HE WAS SERIOUS about fixing the whole "football team actually winning thing."

I am not even sure Kelly needed to go frankly.

And, I kept seeing third downs that Kaep should have made that would have made all the difference the whole frickin year through. Kaep does not belong in the NFL anymore. He can't do it. He plays afraid. No place for that in the league.

don't Jed and Praag have a college connection, or something like that? I get the impression Jed thinks Praag is gonna be his very own moneyball savant :laughing

i'm bummed about Kelly. he got a really raw deal here. that he was able to get anything from Kap-bert and his C-list of receivers is a miracle

in regards to Kelly not being able to bring in the coaches he wanted.... hrm... i wonder why that could possibly be :x we don't know shit for sure but it wouldn't surprise me to find out the weak coaching staffs have been because of mandates and meddling from ownership :thumbdown

I wasnt stoked on Kelly coming, but I had high hopes. I figured we would be a .500 team or so. This was a tough year for the team though

Kerley was a good addition to the team, but we need bigger receivers. I miss having a guy like Boldin on the team.

Dont feel toooooo bad for Chip, he will still be collecting money for a few years from both Philly and SF... Im sure he is bummed he didnt take the Oregon job though ha

That was Baalke. There is a salary floor as well as a cap, and the ability to roll over free cap space to the next season, which is what he did. There's literally no way that York can keep them from spending money because then they will be penalized.

Also, look at the money that they're paying coaches that they have fired, as well as Baalke outright saying that he was given all the resources he needed or asked for. Money isn't an issue.

Kelly got a raw deal, but he's going to get paid $18M to not coach for the next 3 years.

In hindsight, Baalke should have been let go next year and this new GM, new HC process should have already happened.

yes, and if Cook avoids turnovers and if Irvin and Mack show up big-time...there's a chance. But the way they went down Sunday, with no emotion and poor execution, I seriously doubt it.

I'm hoping they know they left a turd on the field on Sunday in Denver and show enough pride to rally... :dunno

They'll stack the box and dare Cook to beat them in the air.

It'll either be a 38-35 shoot out or a 9-7 snoozer :laughing

Cook will do well all the way up to the SB if the Raiders are fortunate enough to make it that far. And then they will get annihilated especially if they face Dallas. They may have had a chance if they'd gotten enough wins for a first round bye. Every decent QB does well the first three games as teams learn their idiosyncrasies. Cook is at minimum a decent QB. Better than any QB currently on the 9er roster.

absolutely no way the Raiders get by anyone other than Houston, which in itself is a very long shot. The emotional leader and best player on the team is gone. The defense only did decent when Carr would inspire them.

I expect 14 penalties for a shitload of yards vs. Houston. Still, with the Texants offensive struggles, they'll only win 27-7

He's one guy that sticks out from working a few games that comes across as legitimately crazy.

You're in for some surprises then. :thumbup
