Cutler to the 9ers? I hope not. We need a QB tough enough to play in the NFC West and good enough to defensive backs to hesitate and take advantage of it. Not some 11 year vet who doesn't pass the sniff test on either.

He might be a good placeholder until they can draft a franchise guy. Give him a 3 year deal, you know?
Kaep is a cancer who can't play, Gabbert and Ponder probably are not the Placeholder answer, and the QB draft this year looks weak as fuck. Why not give the Vet who has shown some spark a couple of years as this team goes through the epic 3-5 year rebuild it is going to take to be playoff worthy again?
I could see Tony Romo working out ok in SF... maybe even Tyrod Taylor for a few years
No way, Romo, is made of wet cardboard, with the junk O-Line the Niners have, he wouldn't even survive though the preseason. I think he should just retire, personally, but I suspect Denver or Houston might take advantage of his desire to keep going. TT Is young and strong, but I feel like if you are going to grasp at straws like that, you may as well stick with Ponder or Gabbert.
Agree about Romo. The guy needs to hang them up. Problem with Cutler is he's got no spine. He gets hit a few times and he folds up tent and goes home...for the rest of the season (he's physically more durable than Romo but he has absolutely no heart). I get that the draft is slim on what would appear as top notch prospects. Problem is the best NFL QB aren't always the ones that appear as blue chips at draft time. Neither of our last two best QB were considered top flight draft picks (one didn't even get drafted by the NFL). And if we can't find one deeper in the draft this year we'll just have to sit tight and deal with another lackluster season.
Dude, you better just brace yourself for another bad season right now. That roster is a dumpster fire. The Niners are going to be a shit show in 2017 just like last year. You can't turn and arguable worst team in pro ball into a contender in a single season. The Draft this year is deep with defensive talent. I think they make sense to possibly trade down for picks in the 1st round, scoop up some nasty pass rush and secondary players, and look for a steal at WR, somebody with nuclear speed that they can develop hands on. Next year they will have another top 10 pick they can use for a QB if a good prospect is there along with some o-line development.
Uhm...where did I say I didn't agree with you? With the exception of not hiring a high priced gunslinger not worth the money? The outcome of the season isn't going to be more than marginally better if we were to bring someone like Cutler in. It's more probable that the move turns out to be a failure and the league and its media circus points to it as such resulting in the FO second guessing itself yet again. Nope. They need to turn it around completely. No more grasping at straws. No more chasing the shiny new toy. Hunker down and rebuild the team with solid, dependable, hard men. No more boys just goofing and having fun.
It was just the bit about, or else we will have to buckle down. There is no question.
).If we get lucky and hit on the next Russ Wilson we may put at least a middle of the road season together. Ranking 27th in offense doesn't help your defense out much. I agree that the D was the worst I've ever seen on an NFL field. Having an offense that holds onto the ball and scores more will help that a bit. Besides, if we parlay the 2nd pick into additional later rounds we can still take a stab at selecting some D talent and get a later round QB at the same time. It's a gamble but if it pays off we could be significantly better this year. Not anywhere near playoff contention, but back on the way up at least (though winning 3 games would actually be an incremental success).
Does anyone really give a shit about the game tomorrow?
