The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

RT Anthony Davis has (finally) officially filed for reinstatement with the NFL and the 49ers.

But he retired from concussions, right? Too scary to keep playing if the brain is bruised. :(

The NFL is dragging their MF'ing feet on a reinstatement ruling for Miami's Dion Jordan. He filed on June 1st, and they have 60 days to make a ruling. It's now 55 days later and still no ruling. :mad

I believe it was a combination of a concussion and just general wear and tear/injury.

I'm so glad I don't feel the need to defend the guy anymore. I still hope he gets his shit together.

Oh Aldon...

Aldon.
Aldon.
Aldon.

:facepalm

how does one find a way to function through life with decision-making skills like that?

I'd be surprised if he's not released. $0 in guaranteed money. The Raiders don't need him.

I'm sure all the many people who've helped him in his life and forgiven him are kicking themselves.

Because star athletes get preferential treatment in life.

sure, I understand that. but his level of basic understanding is remarkable, even for a pampered athlete, don't you think? Like, walk-off-a-cliff-playing-pokemon level.

Aldon Smith, plz report to the Commissioner's office for a pee-pee test. Now.

Just placed an order for some Nike sandals in white/aqua. Other colors are available. :teeth

Good for him.
I hope he still has some mileage left. They need help and he's a good guy.

Supposedly he lost ~50lbs in his year off. He was listed at 325, so if he's down to 275 he will need to put on 25 or so, I'd think.

If he's fully healthy and can actually get back to playing shape, that's a big plus for SF.

Last I heard he still didn't want to play there. Lots of buzz in NY that the Giants are going to try and trade Ryan Nassib for him. We need an upgrade at RT and Nassib, based on his pre-season play over the last few years appears to have potential to be a good starting QB in the NFL. Unfortunately for him, he has been playing back up behind The Unbreakable One since he was drafted and has only thrown 10 passes in real Football time. I think it could be a real win for both sides as this is the last year on Nassib's rookie deal and the Niners are clearly in the middle of a rebuild with a QB controversy already on their hands. Adding another potential big upside QB on the cheap seems like a smart investment in the future for them.

Nassib is not a clear upgrade over either Gabbert or Krapernick. would not trade.

A potential pro bowl RT for a 26 year old QB who has thrown 10 NFL passes in 4 years. I'll go ahead and say no thank you.

Nick Foles granted a release by the Rams...

Something tells me Jets may be calling on him if Fitzpatrick continues to balk at their offer.

EDIT:

D'oh... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...jets-long-contract-standoff-article-1.2728794

The Jets will need a good backup QB after Miami's defense throws a mollywhopping on Fitzpatrick this year...that's why he took so long to sign. He's scared of the Dolphins. :party

DE Mario Williams, 32 sacks the past 3 yrs
DE Cameron Wake, 27 sacks the past 3 yrs
DT Ndamukong Suh, 20.5 sacks the past 3 yrs

Fitz just signed a fully guaranteed 1 year $12M deal with the Jets.

The League is considering fining Dallas $250,000 for having too many players on suspension to start the season. :laughing
