The Retire and Relocate Thread™

Neighbors

Yep, neighbors are important. I had a bad one in Haywierd, but the ones I have in Redding are great!
I'm going riding today with two of them.

Ok, escrow just closed!
They are renting back for a few days for cleaning purposes.
Plan moving Rv over next week.:)Out picking a few pieces of new furniture as we liquidated almost all of ours before we moved…..

Congrats D!!! :thumbup

Hope you both love love love living there!

Yeah that's another big reason why I don't see myself ever owning a new-construction home. There are a handful of locations around us here that have new-construction homes without an HOA, but they're definitely not the norm.

Congrats D!!! :thumbup

Hope you both love love love living there!

Thanks Dennis!
.....and we are in!
All the folks on the street we have met have been super nice.
I know there are few other moto folks in the hood I haven't met yet.
Maybe when I dig our bikes out of storage and have them lined up in the garage it will spark some conversations. :)
Hoping to get garage set up first before I bring them in. Maybe next week.
Hyper is keeping me pretty busy personalizing the place so it feels like ours.
She has a good eye for details . :)

Some really good points, in here, on neighbors.

I've learned over the years to get learn about the neighbors before moving in or buying, they can make or break your experience if you've got good or bad ones. I've had both extremes.

I really don't like HOA's, but I've had some that I could live with, heard horror stories of others. Things can really go south if the members have to bring a lawsuit to fix builder issues, there is almost always uneven handling of the money to fix homes and when it happens the ones who were on the board always get theirs fixed first, often burning up money and leaving some without any benefit.

That is a cool facility. Looks awesome for a supermoto. :teeth

FYI, met a guy on a plane this weekend. Lives here but bought a home in Rome, Georgia. Normal looking house with huge 3 or 4-bay separate shop. $280K

Rome is about an hour from my house. It's not exactly the garden spot of North Georgia nor is it easy to get to if you don't live locally (as in airport access). :laughing

If you flew into Chattanooga, then it would only be an hour drive. :p

Our airport sucks. Most flights are delayed and/or canceled. You'd be better flying into Atlanta and then driving up. Still would suck, though.

Paging ScottRNelson:

I zillowed Nampa, ID. Looks promising. Is it the ghetto of the Meridian area? The Nampa PD has posted some gang activity.

And kindly share tips on choosing airline tix from bay area to Boise. Fly out of Oakland?
