TV Shows I am enjoying

I think they are trying to stretch out how long people will pay for HBOMax as they have dumped a lot of stuff from their lineup like Westworld and some animated DC stuff is gone as well. Plus HotD is turning weird with all the behind the scenes drama. For me I don't think HotD would keep me watching HBO although Last of US is turning out to be pretty good and may make it worth paying for a month to binge it when the complete season is out.

You might be right but I'm still not sure on that. Netflix did it too with the last season of Stranger Things.

I know everyone got used to the Netflix method of dropping an entire season of any given show in one day and then some things went back to "normal" with only weekly releases but taking breaks mid-season is new for a streaming service (at least for shows that I watch). The accepted belief by most was yes, streaming services weren't dropping whole seasons in one day as much anymore so people don't just subscribe for one month and cut it when they're done but splitting seasons into multiple parts, I'm not really understanding unless it's as simple as you say, another effort to keep people subscribed.

There were reasons for normal broadcast TV why they had mid-season breaks but for a streaming service, I don't get it.

But yeah I've also been paying attention to what HBO Max has been doing with some of their DC shows/movies which confuses me a bit. I thought it was a great idea to merge pretty much all of DC content to HBO, it's all Warner Bros property anyway. DC used to have a streaming service for all their shows and a ton of other content (well it still exists) but now it's basically just a website to read comic books online. Which I appreciate... if I'm reading whatever run of comics and there's a gap between issue 20 and issue 25 or whatever and I can't find it at the local comic book store, I can find it online.

I guess ultimately, I don't care. The streaming services I pay for, or share with friends, I like because of the vast library of shows/movies, not just the latest and most popular thing. It's nice to not need to pirate everything.

Binged up to S1 E7 or E8.

The acting is fantastic especially all the actors playing mideast characters. The scenery is very real. Too lazy to google where its filmed but some scenes remind me of Morocco. Storyline is good. This series is much better than The Terminal List.

I still haven’t warmed up to Kasinski. His nostrils are asymetric and that bothers me.

Expecting his GF, Dr. Mueller, to get popped by Suleiman.

Jack Ryan Update

Season 1 ended nicely with Suleiman getting smoked. Really liked how Ryan fired a shot in the air to get the innocent bystanders to fall to the subway floor thereby leaving Suleiman standing and vulnerable to a kill shot.

Season 2 started hot with a US Senator getting popped in Caracas. Nice!

Yowamushi Pedal - there's two seasons on Netflix, but I looked it up on imdb and there's five seasons now. Latest on Jan 28 this year.

It's a formulaic anime reprise on Initial D but with road bicycling. Good explanations of how the equipment and team dynamics work.

Sorry ... hopeless bike otaku weeb

Binged to S3 E3. Continues to impress me with all these fine Latin actors and landscapes of Venezuela.

I wiki the actors as they appear; interesting they come from different backgrounds: mexico, spain, colombia, etc.

Jack needs to learn how to fight. Not impressed with his hand to hand combat skills.

So I'm not the only one who looks shit up while watching??

For those willing to read subtitles, we just finished Snow Girl (Spain), a nifty procedural with a lot of painful reflections regarding child and teen porn.

We actually took a break from Public Enemy (French) because its very intense. Starting back up tonight.

No sense in starting a separate thread so.....

Coming out of my cave an decided to give Netflix a try.

Worth watching?

Breaking Bad
Ozarks

Anything else to give a peek at?

Altered Carbon Season 1 is a work of bloody genius.

Black Mirror is a must watch.

Wednesday was fun, so was the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and so is Stranger Things, particularly for people of a certain age.

Lost in Space and The Witcher should be participated in.

Binged to S3 E7. One more episode and I’m caught up.

Enjoyed JR way more than The Terminal List because

• Talented international cast - Scots, Bosnians, Ruskies, Poles; just amazing talent.
• Location shooting - wow, just wow! This must be an expensive production. This show’s production makes Jennifer Garner’s Alias look like a high school skit. I watched 2-3 episodes of Alias. Always chuckled when they made a Hollywood set look like Prague or whatever by buying a 1983 Jag XJ and BMW 320i from craigslist and parking it on the set. Oh look! We’re in Munich lol
• Lot of headshots, blood splatter and excellent sound effects of a bullet passing through a skull. My only criticism is they need to add some bone fragment and soft human tissue to the splatter on walls.
• Just about every episode is intriguing.

Looks like I may binge SEAL TEAM. Six seasons. God damn, its gonna be a time suck.

Lastly, enjoy ID-ing wristwatches. Greer and Ryan wear Swiss Made :love Hamiltons in season 2:

Re-reading this thread. Missed this acknowledgment.

Letterkenny is the funniest show I've seen in years. I haven't been into a sitcom this much in years. I've rewatched the entire series at least 3 times.
...

+2, just finished Letterkenny. I fucking loved it so much I even watched a few episodes of Shoresy ha. Loved all the hockey references. Finally my wasted youth watching Sharks, hockey video games and generally getting into hockey paid off with a lot of cool references to players I remembered.

Close but no cigar. Fortunately, I’ve spent some time in the Breitling catalog recently, so that one I picked up on right away. This model is called Avenger. Fitting for the character, as Breitlings tend to be one of the watches one might “upgrade” to for someone in the military who might have started with a Luminox or Marathon watch.

Can’t find the exact one in the current Breitling catalog, but I’m pretty certain it’s an Avenger. Combine these two models, and you get Greer’s watch…

Thanks. Yep, looks like a Breitling (bezel details and dials).

PS - I’ve read that Luminox are mediocre.

PPS - Its interesting Breitling makes a Triumph watch:

That Triumph Top Time is the best looking of the Top Time models they have. But the fact that they don’t use their own movement in that one (it’s a modified ETA 7753) kinda turns me off to it.

Luminox is very much marketed to military/adventure types who don’t just have a G-Shock already. They still have the gimmick of tritium filled tubes for permanent illumination, which is very nice if most of your travels happen in the dark.

Watch thread is that way
<--------

I finally caught up on The Last of Us. Had all the feels

I watched the first episode last night of The Last of Us, threw in the towel halfway through. Looked like the sequel to Walking Dead.

Anyhow nothing on tv more interesting then Bald

I think its weird to pay more for a watch honoring a bike than the bike, no?

… not a day goes by that I’m not spammed by Luminox.

Only Murders in the Building
Ted Lasso
Wrexham
Rick and Morty
And 100 Foot Wave.

Gave Only Murders a go only just a few months ago. Glad I did. It’s really good. Steve Martin and Martin Short of course are comedy legends, but when I initially saw that Selena Gomez was also the star I was like how the hell does this work? Watched it out of sheer curiosity. Ted Lasso and Wrexham AFC also winners. And 100 Foot Wave was an interesting watch. A; I had no idea that waves got that big. And B; I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but I was amazed that there’s crazy people out there that are willing to be in the water when they happen. R&M is pretty out there. Have only seen maybe half a dozen episodes. And it’s funny, but for whatever reason I just don’t get the “gotta see them all” drive for that series. Yet I’ve watched every South Park…go figure.

Jack Ryan Update4.0

I watched final episode of S3. I approve of this TV show.

Like a heroin addict trying to wean himself, I decided to buy Seal Team S1. I didn’t read wiki or watch any trailers.

I expected it to be:

one mission per episode with one Seal getting smoked and the Team returning to their homes and family life following the mission.

After watching S1 E1 and reading plots of remaining episodes in S1, it appears the show is:

one mission per episode with one Seal getting smoked and the Team returning to their homes and family life following the mission.

Got tired of the actress Jessica Paré 4 minutes into S1 E1. Hopefully her character gets killed off in first 30 seconds of S1 E2.
