VW "Clean" Diesel not really clean

Personally I wouldn't risk it over 500 bucks. The other 500 you can only spend on vw where everything is already marked up 300%. As for the roadside assistance, everyone should have aaa. It's the best bang for your buck in that category.

I was at the dealer the other day for the rebate and talk about a trade in. Turns out VW can still take them in as trade in, just cant sell them yet.

Sales guy has a Passat diesel and told me not to trade it in, that the fix would be small and not impact MPG. He did say that the trade in would be a little less than private party KBB.

I might be able to trade it in, pay off my remaining loan and use the left over for the down AND not increase my monthly car payment.

Those VW liars didn't lie, says top VW liar. :laughing

yea i heard that on the radio yesterday and was like WTF douchbag you CLEARLY lied and attempted to evade emissions!!!

jesus, better to be a man about it and own up to it at this point

Why would you do that if your car will most likely be bought back at a premium?

CARB rejects VW plans for recall, looks like VW will have to buy back all CA tdi's.

There are ~14 'CARB states' that have adopted the same guidelines.

Also, I thought that the TDI violated EPA emission requirements too. They just violated CARB more (40 times vs 9 times).

Yeah, I am not selling until the dust settles.
I doubt we will get a "premium" if there is a buyback.
Best hope is KBB value from before the scandal broke. If they pile on some "damages" to the buyback or offer a huge loyalty trade in bonus on top of a buyback that would be OK too, but cash is preferred as there is nothing in their lineup I need.

haha, great sidestep. This is why he is paid the big bucks!!

CARB’s decision comes just a day before Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller will appear before federal regulators at the EPA to present a fix for cars with defeat devices on them. On Sunday night at the Detroit Auto Show, Müller told NPR that Volkswagen “didn’t lie” to investigators when it submitted vehicle documentation to US regulators without disclosing the defeat devices on the cars. “It was a technical problem,” Müller said to NPR on Sunday night. "We made a default, we had a ... not the right interpretation of the American law. And we had some targets for our technical engineers, and they solved this problem and reached targets with some software solutions which haven't been compatible to the American law.”

I heard that interview - what a bunch of Kraut doublespeak. You would THINK that SOMEBODY in his legal department would have put a muzzle on that guy - NO good comes from trying to make it sound like a large technical manufacturing company DIDN'T do exactly what they did - the cat is out of the bag, guys. You fucked up, lied, got caught and fessed up - and now you think its a good time to start lying again ?

Fool.

:confused

why would anyone be bagging on the doublespeak ? That shit is money, yo !

Buyback + compensation

Details not out yet but a buyback will be offered for the value of the car 'before' the diesel information came out. Compensation will also be offered and selling the car back to VW does not seem to be mandatory BUT a fix would still need to be done.

Raises a lot of questions still for me. Who determines the value pre-scandal? Who's paying for the fix once that is determined to work? How much do I get if I choose to keep the car and have it fixed? Warranty on the fix?

Sounded promising when I read a buy back however if it's only like $14k, minus taxes, that's not that much and I still have to go buy a new ride.

Wow.

The article below your link said that sales dropped 25% after the news hit. That is not that bad considering the scandal a 25% drop in sales. I would expect a 50-75% drop. Apparently VW people don't care about air quality that much.

called it :twofinger

whatever amount they decide it has be to substantial. There's no way they can screw the owners or else they risk the massive possibility of being sued for damages.

Meanwhile, my 10-year old pre-"clean" TDI Jetta has just clocked 110,000 miles and is chugging right along on a steady diet of straight Bio-diesel.

fucks given = 0

my Volt is siting on the charger at work, getting powered up off of a fuel cell :cool

but I only bought it for the car pool benefits, the reduction in carbon footprint is a bonus :shhh

I hope you did only buy it for the car pool benefit - because charging a pHEV from a fuel cell gives an all-in energy efficiency of 35% (65% electricity generation efficiency x 60% H2 generation efficiency x 95% charging efficiency x 95% traction efficiency) which is about 10% LESS than a diesel. :laughing
