Also don't forget that EV's aren't good if the primary source for creating the electricity comes from coal power plants.
Buyback + compensation
Details not out yet but a buyback will be offered for the value of the car 'before' the diesel information came out. Compensation will also be offered and selling the car back to VW does not seem to be mandatory BUT a fix would still need to be done.
Raises a lot of questions still for me. Who determines the value pre-scandal? Who's paying for the fix once that is determined to work? How much do I get if I choose to keep the car and have it fixed? Warranty on the fix?
Sounded promising when I read a buy back however if it's only like $14k, minus taxes, that's not that much and I still have to go buy a new ride.

I have a 2013 w/ 50k miles, used the customer cash for the 40k dsg service, otherwise it has been maintenance free to this point. But I am skeptical about the long term if they retrofit it.
I will wait for full details as i am sure carb and California will have the harshest enforcement and the car will not be register-able if not "fixed".

There are no coal plants in Calfiornia
Good thing coal is being phased out. Natural Gas and even renewable are beating it.
Not stating this for California but in general ( I'm pro EV btw).
Often times people lose sight on the technology. Having an EV in Nevada is probably worse than just driving a Prius / diesel.
Good thing is the Bay Area is between 20-30% renewable currently.
25k I think is a fair buy back for my 4door golf. That or 30k but only for another vw
You guys are going to be lucky to get mid wholesale, IMO.
What we want, what we think they will, and what they should offer will all be different.
If they don't come out with a good figure, then they are setting themselves up for more lawsuits as many owners will chose to stay in the class action suit.
