Cars that make your jaw drop.

I'd love to see some video of these things taking corners at speed. :laughing

Would racing be better? Here ya go - just like a bike looks like you lean into the turn

Starsky & Hutch paintjob FTW!!!!!

I would have never liked these but my Dad's been working on one since I was born. A green '72 Xke v-12. Looks just like this but he has 6 2-barrel webbers and ceramic headers. Not many like the long front end.

72_Jagauar_XKE_DV_06-BC_01.jpg

it's not the long front end it's the +2 cabin on that one that's fugly. the regular version is pure sex. in the 80s the XK series weren't worth much, and a lot of them got chevy V8 conversions to replace the 6 and 12 cylinder boat anchors they came with. crazy how much a restored one is worth these days

the 63ish continental in the background now... that's a hot car. i miss mine

I love engine swaps and such, but when I saw this in a '69 Camaro trunk, my jaw dropped. I axed the kid what it was, and where he got it, and he said "mom had a 7-series..."

i hope these kinds of conversions happen more often, so many nice parts to be had under big european cars that get junked for CHEAP. there is a 750 in barf classifieds for something dirty cheap, 5k i think. that engine and drivetrain would be fun to put in something smog exempt

Axed? Really? I...

I just...

just saw this (broken down?) at Camden and 17. Looked like a C5 with a body kit from the front, but very Ferrari from the back. I'm sure someone can tell me what model it is.

Factory 5 Supercar.

Kit car, uses many Corvette components and a Porsche transaxle.

GMC Typhoon

Definitely the Grand National. Only car I've ever seen going 80mph on the freeway, drop a gear and do a burnout!:laughing

Pretty much any pre 70's muscle car.

Took a drive to Utah recently and stopped for some salty fun on the return trip. 2000mi round trip, average mpg: 26.8!

:wow 26.8mpg? :wtf In that? What kind of hypermiling techniques do you use? Seriously. I'm heading on a long road trip and need some pro tips.

I just drove it like 90% of normal people drive. I matched the acceleration of traffic when merging or pulling away from traffic lights. I was 5-10mph faster than the speed limit on the highway. Kept in on cruise control 99.9% of the time. Accelerated and decelerated with the cruise control.

Vettes are known for getting good highway mileage since they are small/aerodynamic and have fairly large, powerful engine that isn't working hard to push it at highway speeds.

How bad was it to get the salt off? I rolled my bike out into the salt last year just at the end of the pavement for a photo op, but didn't really get any salt anywhere. Looks like you're farther out there. Go to Speed Week?

Getting the salt off the car was a real challenge. I suppose that if I had just driven out there taken a few pictures, and driven back, it would have been fairly easy. I spent a decent amount of time zipping this way and that with some sliding and a spin or three tossed in for the hell of it.
