Cars that make your jaw drop.

The price on this bitch.. Will drop your pants. That is, if the cash was in your pocket.

$75K Msrp.

Ugh. Way more than the ZL1. But damn is it ever a potent track car. A good alternative if you didn't want to lay out 100k for a Z06.

Too f'n huge. And too much $$ for a Camaro.

It'll be interesting to see the new platform next year, which should be considerably smaller/lighter.

GM made an overweight car??

They're hardly alone. Look at the weights of pretty much any new car... they're all bloated.

That said, check out the new Caddy CTS, and the ATS, as well. Lightest in their respective classes!

Ahhhh, they may have some bloated cars, but GM also made this (for the sissy ass Vette). You guys that are big into the track days are gonna love this...

With pretty much everyone running a GoPro or two on their cars and bikes now for track days, it was only a matter of time before an OEM application came along. Pretty awesome that it syncs with GPS and telemetry too.

Hope when that thing is turned off, it is really turned off. Hate to have a record of some antics on the street available for Mr. local law enforcement to examine.

The video part would be easy to defeat with a fuse, or a piece of tape over the lens. The data portion is a bit more complicated. Almost all modern cars have a data recorder that records the last few moments of use.

It can be used for good though. A family member of mine crashed and totaled his Volt. Within a few days General Motors called him and said that they reviewed the data (car was in his driveway post crash) and that they would like to have the car back for research. They offered to replace the car for free. He called his insurance company and cancelled his claim. A week later GM came for the car and dropped off the new one.

I have heard of GTRs recording data and voiding warranties for "track use". Shame really, since there aren't really any very safe or appropriate places for the proper use of a nearly 500hp car. Hate to spend 80K on a car, use it at the track and not have the ability to get warranty work done or fix a manufacturer defect.

Wow. How long ago was that? Anywhere around the time of the recall for the battery?

Nine months to a year ago. They told him that they hadn't seen a Volt crashed that hard and that is why they wanted it back. He fell asleep at the wheel, drifted into a ditch, and then hit a tree dead center between the headlights.

Oh, OnStar was active, and that is who actually called EMS. He was on a country road a few miles from the nearest human and at zero-dark-thirty. He 'came to' when he heard the OnStar operator talking and trying to get him to respond.

Yeah I think OnStar is free for three years with Volts. At least that's what my dad got with his.

Stories like that kinda make me glad "big brother" (in this case OnStar) is watching.

Great things created America: the GTO, Processed Cheese, and willing girls from Wisconsin.
