Do You Mountain Bike?

The format of the DV race is what makes this really intriguing and exciting for me. It requires a rider to be well rounded, not just be able to go balls out for 2.5 minutes.

That's kinda the neat thing about the DH race itself. 17 miles of DH with 1000 feet of climbing mixed in, the DH race alone requires a really well rounded athlete!

If Beneke does not do the XC portion, to me, his DH finish will be close to meaningless.

Beneke finished 18th in the XC race last year with a 2:17:38.8

I'm still looking forward to seeing how it goes. Even if I do not race XC, I would want to go to check out the scene and see the action live. It will depend mostly on the baby, being that she's due in late July.

Kick ass. If we all go and split a campsite or something along those lines, I think it'll be a good time!

Oh, and don't laugh, but I may be taking after Budman... I've been asked to be a spin class instructor :laughing

I'm somehow picturing Budman with an ashtray on his stationary bike... :)

I'm down to share a campsite with whoever else is going. and maybe go a few days early to pre-run the courses. Or just an earlier trip.

side note 1: ill be riding demo tomorrow morning if anyone wants to go.

side note 2: anyone know where to pick up skinsuits? looking for my first set of spandex, and dont know what to look for...:rolleyes

What size are you Scott? I may have a new pair of padded compression shorts that are too big for me that you can have. Don't go full spandex or too tight for your top, something loose that wicks away perspiration would be the way to go for comfort and utility.

I'm down, but fair warning - I party better than I ride a bike...:party

Welcome new team mate.

This race is gonna be a bit different than one of the CCCX XC races in that there is no set time you are required to be out on the trail after one lap. There will be plenty of chances to fuel up in between your runs. In this instance it's more important to just carry enough liquid to stay hydrated and maybe some shot blocks or goo if you plan on running for more than 2 laps straight.

In a normal XC you just go balls out for however many laps your class requires and it's more important to fuel properly before heading out rather than doing it in the field. This is a gonna be a pretty tame endurance race considering that we are a three man team. You are going to be unofficialy attached to the Sheila moon team as well who are going to have an awsome tent set up, bbq and who knows what other shenanigans. Usually a keg or 2. And the moments you are not racing you will likely be eating hot dogs and drinking beer:laughing

If you were doing this by yourself as one of my teammates is on a SS:wtf or doing one of the 24hr races then the good word is to fill a couple of water bottles with super thick nasty protein powder type drinks mix for nutrient nourishment then wash it down with your camel back. It's just easier to manage than solid foods.

But Boggs is one of the easier XC courses I'm hearing. Lots of smooth rolling trails with no seriously technical up or downhills. Should be a blast.

Cheers,Jer

Thanks for the offer, just finished prep last night. Then realized I prep'd to early, as i'll prob ride atleast 2 more times this week. :rolleyes On a side note, anyone have tips for shaking a sore throat in less than a week....ugh

I was sceptical about this stuffat first but I think I'm a believer now.

Quantum herbal products

super oxygenated cold and flu formula

Aged organic and wildcrafted wholeplant consentrate of unparalleled potency

has everything in it you could imagine from maple syrup to venus fly trap.

You mix about 60 or so drops of this stuff into a bottle of water. Tastes like shit but it's all tingly going down. Sounds crazy but I was in the midst of catching some nasty bugs a couple of times and dosed up heavily on this stuff and within a day my sore throat and sniffles were gone. Seems to work.

You can find it right next to the snake oil on isle 5 at your local witchdoctor shack:thumbup

So who is headed up to northstar this summer and when? I'm game!

I know Harpo and I are good for at least a couple of days up there - from the looks of things, so are Ryan (Pakow), Sonny (Fawndog) and Roxy. We'll give ya a heads up!

What are you using as a downhill rig?
