Do You Mountain Bike?

strange, I was never asked those questions...:confused

I got a spot in Sport

maybe bc your racing just DH, for am they check your bike weight each day, prob want to make sure your riding the same thing.

i hope theyll let me change to a nomad

Where is everyone riding this weekend?:)

Anyone heading to SOC?:confused

I know this is a few days late. I spent 3 days, 2 nights there. Had fun, met some cool folks, hung out at my bro in law's booths, Blue Cycles & Zipp Wheels. Spent most of my time at our booth, EVOMO.

Here's a pic of me on Saturday. I was lounging on the couch waiting for expert practice and fell asleep.

I am super pissed that I didn't get to register for D'Ville DH but oh well.

Lets just say for shits and giggles that I was contemplating doing some xc races with you spandex wearing freaks, . . . hypethetically speaking of course. What lightweight xc bike or frame would you guys consider a good light frame at a good price, . . . as I ain't got much to spend ? ? ?

Oh, and no hardtails. My back can't take that abuse. WOuld have to be a 3 or 4 incher.

Just borrow my bike for a race or two and see if you even want to spend the scrilla on another dedicated xc rig. My 3.5" front, 4" rear rig weighs in right around 26 lbs. The 3.5 " world cup fork on there feels better than the 110 mm psylo. If I can't ride for a while, it may be going up for sale also, so try it out. It's got all the nice bits on it, full XTR, yadda yadda yadda

That's a good point. I checked the 4incher after my last race, the rear shock mounting bolt was bent. You can't go from 6 to 4 and ride(huck) the same.

If I switched to something with 120mm of travel front and rear, I think someone with my ability would see a minimal loss in performance with a significant gain in fun. If I were running at the front of an Expert XC race, it might be different - as it stands, 120mm sounds like it would be a great balance.

Got screwed by Active.com, never even let me get to the reg page!!!!!! :mad

That sucks! Are you thinking of doing the XC race?

Yes, got a spot for XC :|

What Pro-pedal platform would you recommend? I see there are quite a few

I like stuff that is easy to use;
Mike has a Triad that is nice,
The RP3 is nice, and cheap,
The RP23 seems similar with just a full plush setting, hard to switch between PP settings on the fly,
The DHX is just too much and Greg would stop talking to me if I got one because I'd call him everyday. + expensive,

I really recommend calling Fox and Push for Ideas. Without the hassle of sales pressure Push told me the best model for my bike/riding style.

Need help with tubeless conversion.

I have tubeless wheels. My favorite tires in the world (non tubeless Performance tires) hooked a bead no problem, but they leaked air and didn't seal up for 1/2 hour(at 80psi). I pealed them off and cleaned out the slime (tubeless compound) and put the lunarlight tubes back in. Are these tires not gonna go tubeless?

sooooooo does anyone want a sport AM spot, i seem to have a partially torn ligament in my right knee...

You serious?!?:wow I'm so sorry to hear that....:(

Which ligament? Was that the same issue you were having at Boggs?

Back off the killer climbs for now.

Didn't anyone tell you ur not supposed to get hurt at the beginning of the season? That sucks. Hopefully it's not that bad. Heal up quick.

thats whats going to kill me, after spending $$$ on d ville.

Damn Scotty. Injuries suck.

You'll heal fast, just don't push the training. In the mean time, ride solo or with mellow groups so you're not tempted to drop the hammer.

The good news is that cycling is a recomended form of rehab exercise for just about every sports injury there is. Maybe not the type of "cycling" you're capable of... but you get the idea.

And BTW, WTF are you signing up for sport class for anyway? sandbagger.

You need to put the tire back on, get it to hold air as well as it will and go ride the shit out of it. Might actually take a couple of rides before it seals up completely so be prepared to pump up if needed.

If that doesn't work, ..... GO GET STAN'S
Then repeat the above procedure :thumbup

+1 on the Stan's. I even use it in tubeless tires just in case. A small price to pay for some insurance. I wouldn't even try a non-tubeless tire without it. I haven't heard anything great about the other similar products. YMMV. Hope this helps.

Hey JB,

How did you do at SOC?:confused

Give us the details.

I did horrible. 17 outta 30. I didn't hit the 30' table and really put about 75% into the race run. I got two practice runs in and it felt like I was fighting the bike the whole time. I basically let that get to me while in the start gate. I didn't pedal where I had planned to and I felt like garbage. Oh well, had fun and that's really what is important. Either way, there really is no excuse for the performance.

Next week, I'll head up to Auburn for some shuttle runs and have some alone time with my SOCOM.

Watched Shaums March break the chain on the beach cruiser and take out four spectators during our "world championship" skid mark contest. He was laughing harder than anyone of us.

Are you using Stan's sealant or slime to get it to bead?

No kidding - when did this happen? Maybe there's enough time for it to heal?
