Do You Mountain Bike?

i'd like to get set up for around 2 grand. i realize this is less than the cost of most nice xc/freeride bikes which is why i'm hoping someone here might know of a good deal in the area. appreciate the input!!!

My buddy is selling a new Tuner 5 spot. Frame, White brothers fork, Carbon seat post, carbon bars and a few more extras. I think a headset and some hubs.

Large set up for a 200 pound rider.Just needs the drive train.

Frame alone was 1800. Fork another 500. Seat post 100. bars 100...........

Think he is looking for 1200 for all of it.

Sonoma... buy my bike, it's a freeride bike but is front derailleur compatible and has a full length seatpost so you can climb. I used to have it setup with a double ring in front and I would pedal up to the top of Pacifica all the time.

I'm selling it for $2200.. it's worth more than twice that. I just lowered the price from $2500 I was asking...which was lowered from the $3k I was asking. Here's a link:

Pretty much near top of the line components. It has 6.4" and 7.3" travel adjustable. Also adjustable for FR/DH settings - slackens or steepens the HA & lower or raises the BB.

the only reason I am selling it is to get a pure DH race rig for next season. I just built this up and am kicking myself in the ass for losing so much money from changing my mind. I got this frame at the end of October. No dents/dings.. only minor scuffs from regular use & shuttling with other bikes.

So you're looking for an All Mountain bike? Something with 160-170mm travel and more slacked out geometry than an XC Trail bike? Try getting a demo on one of the following:

- Trek Remedy (2010 or earlier),
- Santa Cruz Nomad
- Specialized Enduro SL
- Giant Reign X

I'm currently on a 140/150mm travel Ibis Mojo SL, but it's more of a long-travel trail bike - I believe the head angle is steeper than most All Mountain bikes. I don't do air, but I'm pretty aggressive on the rocky stuff, and I'll climb all day long - the bike works really well for me :)

mrcrash, why 2010 or earlier on the trek remedy? I really liked the 2011 I rode. 160 mm travel bike would be plenty for me, even a 140 bike would work well. i actually rode the specialized stumpjumper 140 bike with the brain shock the other day. that thing is pretty amazing but i wonder how those brain shock hold up. in theory, its pretty brilliant and always went from being locked out to squishy as soon as i hit any bump. seems like it could break pretty easily though.

anyway, since i'm just getting back into the sport and not positive of the way i will be riding, maybe a long travel trail bike would work for me.

Will we be seeing you out at the bailey bike park dual slalom next time?

I got a smaller rotor and bracket if ya want one too.

yes DS soon but 7" rotor stays , I got plenty others if I want to put a 6" on for the whopping 20g weight savings. :ride Waiting on a white Velvet to replace the talas , once thats on t'will be in the 25-26 pound range.

hmmm. looking at two frames right now. both are very good deal.

Santa cruz bullit or a Vantana Pantera. Both from like 2002ish.

The bullit has more travel ( 6 inch?) so the fork I have now might not be enough. The Pantera has 4 inch and comes with a brand new rear shock.

Both are single pivot.

I have a trek Fuel right now.

Im more of a XC rider.

both frames 300.

Input?

went in a completely different direction

Got some spare parts will sell cheap to break even. going on craigs for more.

Older boxxer triple crown fork. 20mm, In decent condition. will throw in a 20mm front wheel. 130.

Juicy 7 brakes front and rear with rotors. rear needs pads 60.

So i have a question...

kinda new at the bike modding thing, im getting sick of the pos fork on my giant, im wanting to upgrade to a fox fork, 6inch travel or so..

what specs do i need to look at to make sure it fits? here are the specs to my bike: http://www.bikepedia.com/Quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2009&Brand=Giant&Model=Brass+SX&Type=bike

im pretty sure all i need to do is make sure the headset matches the fork correct?

help me out a lil fellas
Correct! Just match the fork to the headset.

That link says 1-1/8", so look for a fork with a 1-1/8" steerer tube. Just make sure it's long enough. You should probably measure yours so you know how long you need. If it's longer, you can cut it or have it cut. Shorter is no bueno.

If you're interested in a Fox Float 36, I know someone that may be willing to sell one.
