Caution: Snarky comments designed to poke fun at a company's attempt to gain product approval before delivering a finished, tested product.
Found this in my email addressed to me, personally:
You spoke, and we're listening.
Many of you have asked us to share the time of launch to ensure you get your helmet before quantities run out.
Here are the details: Monday pre-orders will launch at 9:00AM EST / 6:00AM PST. We have stress tested our servers and they should be able to handle the traffic. We will email you early Monday morning to announce pricing and to ensure you get in before the rest of the world. We are accepting all major credit cards and PayPal payments for your convenience.
Date: Pre-orders begin at 9:00AM EST / 6:00AM PST on Monday, August 11, 2014.
P.S. We have some sweet exclusives prepped for you as a member of the SKULLY nation. We will send you special pricing details when the pre-order campaign launches on Monday morning August 11th. The first 25 early adopters will get a limited time discount, available at launch on our website SKULLYSYSTEMS.COM.
Bonus: You asked for more feedback on people's reactions from the community. Here's what people are saying about their experience with the SKULLY AR-1:
First off, I didn't say anything to Skully, so I'm not sure what they're talking about. I'm not so sure I want to identify myself as part of a group that considers themselves a marketing & product-based "nation".
Secondly I'm pretty sure the sales aspect of their venture isn't going to stress their servers: It was the "beta tester" rouse that stressed their system. As well, I don't see them running out of helmets anytime soon unless they only made 12 of them.
Of course they're accepting all major credit cards and PayPal, right? Is it really for my convenience? I'll bet it's not. And I'm a little doubtful that a "sweet exclusive" and "special pricing" are going to make any difference in sales. Unless they're including some cool stickers and maybe a free microfiber cloth to wipe the camera lens (2"x2")
And how is more feedback a bonus? I'm a little leery of someone presenting the minimum expected and calling it an extra.
"Thank you for joining us on what will be a wild ride.
Together, we can transform the motorcycle industry."
Wild ride? Maybe, but not the kind they're envisioning. Transform the motorcycle industry? Not likely. Who's writing this copy anyway, the ShamWow guy?
I'm all for cool innovation and useful gadgets, that's why I bought a Reevu helmet. They didn't have beta testers: They designed, built and extensively tested an innovative product and put that product on the market to sell under it's own merit.
As for the testimonials, it appears that none of the people interviewed
actually wore the helmet while riding; they just put it on in a studio at a party. Any beta testers out there actually used the Skully?
Again, if you've drunk the cool-aide, don't get upset with me. I'm just poking a little fun at the roll-out.
