The debate about gear rages on

Right. Nobody was arguing that. And, right again people can wear what they want. No need to spin it up in any way. And, If I decide to ride from my house on Happy Valley Rd. to downtown Lafayette to get coffee in jeans, as I don't think leathers are necessary, then NO THAT GOES NOT MEAN I AM ARGUING THE "MERITS" OF RIDING IN SHORTS OR VANS. No need for straw men up in here.

Nobody in here is claiming riding naked is safer then riding with leathers. Not a single one.

Some folks are arguing that everyone is somebody else's idiot. Like, some people think you are an idiot for riding motorcycles no matter what you wear. In fact, I would say, with no statistics (but 35 years of riding experience) that the VASY MAJORITY of the public at large think we are all idiots for riding. Period. To these people, this argument would sound to them like this:
"I am slightly less of an idiot for wearing leathers, and the rest of you jeans wearing lunatics are the bigger idiots, therefore you are ruining it for the rest of us lesser idiots".

It's ridiculous really, in my opinion. :laughing

:thumbup

Gear only dictates how much skin you will grind off when you hit the road, nothing more nothing less.
Proper gear makes the rider less vulnerable to the elements and decrease the probability of an element-induced crash. Ie, avoiding getting too hot, too cold, too wet, dyhydrated, momentarily deaf, blind, etc. In that respect, gear works like a car's bodywork.

My god. If people keep touting the insurance shit, I'm seriously about to call into my agent and record the conversation and post it.
Pls do, and post the agent's credentials.

You've typed a lot of words since MrIncredible's post, but none of them address the blatant contradictions in your own posts over a short time span. They paint a picture of a guy who takes contrary positions for the fun of it.

But if you think I'm baiting you, feel free to report the post.

See it how you will. Perception is reality, and yours is clearly flawed. Agree to disagree on my intents, I'm pretty sure I am the only one who truly knows what they are. Sorry you misunderstand me.

I have the same impression of the OP's input in this and in other threads.

But if you think I'm baiting you, feel free to report the post.
Trolls don't report; they bathe in the attention.

The funny thing about misconceptions about you is that you're the only one who knows it's a misconception. To everyone else, it's just how you are.

Then I am sorry that your impression is flawed as well. Again, I draw attention to the fact the 68 posts were placed without my involvement, including from Mr. Incredible. 60-fucking-8. You want to talk about blatant trolling? It's that fact that when I do rejoin the conversation, I am immediately jumped on by several members for having a difference of opinion and asking a question based off of SOMEONE ELSES post. Sure, I used the verbiage "...add fuel to the fire...", but God forbid I use a commonly spoken metaphor to drive a point home in my agreement with the other guys post. I was making an example of something I felt supported his and my claim. Not trolling. Yet you seem to revert to denouncing everything I post as trolling.

Seriously. Do some inner reflection and some of you will hopefully be able to see past how caught up in the "bash Breaking Daniel every time he opens his mouth/call him a troll" bandwagon you truly are on.

I'm not saying that you guys don't, but I have a fucking life bud. I have a wife and child, a time taxing career, a military obligation, a family, hobbies, and everything else that comes with being a responsible adult this day and age. I also happen to have an interest in being on BARF for several reasons. Trolling is not one of them, as I lack both the time and desire to do it. So can we please all get past the immaturity revolving around that? It's fucking stupid. I can't tell you how many times I've asked people to get over that, yet they still continue with it. Who is the troll in that situation? The person who asks for people to stop it, or the person that won't let it die?

So here's a point. Let's say I am a troll, and I do this for the attention. Who is responsible for me still being around, me or you? You guys continue to 'feed the troll' with said attention. If you actually gave two shits about proving your point, you'd stop. Stop interacting with me, don't post on threads I start, never publicly reference my name again. Then see how long I stick around. If it is truly attention and nothing more that I seek, I would then leave. Call this an online social experiment. If you continue to post and interact with me, then we'll all know who the real trolls are.

Everything you post? Actually, I don't notice you that much at all, only when you get truly ridiculous (see above).

Perhaps you should get back to that fucking life, bud... :twofinger

So, anyone who calls you on it is the real troll? Is this the internet equivalent of "I am rubber, you are glue?" :rofl

Maybe everything was a strong choice of a word. Apologies.

Like I said, I do enjoy being a part of BARF. A lot of knowledge and cool people are on here, and hopefully that life of mine allows for some time to go to a local meet and get to know some folks in person.

To speak plainly, you yourself have admitted to routinely making poor first impressions, yet here you are asking others to take a different view, while you presumably remain free to behave in a way that seems to produce "misconceptions" about you.

Do some inner reflection yourself.

If that is still your opinion, then quit 'feeding the trolls'. Sorry we haven't seen eye-to-eye on this.

Well this is very true for sure, however, I was speaking in a crash situation and not discussing the merits of gear vs. the elements and such. You are totally correct though.

God damn... Just stop posting!!! You guys are not even discussing gear anymore. BD it's a hard lesson to learn. When I joined Barf I wanted to be liked sooo bad that I would start taking it way to personal when people would make snippy comments. I would argue and argue to try and make them see my point. All it did was make me look like an asshole because nobody knew me. I learned that when you step in the shit you stop and wash your shoes, not drag them all over the carpet. Just let this point die and start a thread about how great the ninja 250 is, or that you tried on some helimot gloves and really want a pair. Your probably a nice person to shoot the shit with and ride with but nobody will ever know that if you keep this type of debate going. Just say your last word and say your done and never post in this thread again. Life will be much better here for you if you use that method.

Same for the rest of you... Squash this and give the guy a chance to start over.

Then consider myself checked out of this one. Regardless if new folks join the discussion or not, I'm tired of getting stepped on in this thread.

I appreciate you at least having a fair evaluation of the subject, and for pointing out that everyone (myself included) aren't even talking about the original topic anymore anyway. Thanks. :thumbup

Trust me... It was only easy to point out because I have been there myself.:laughing:thumbup

OK so let me see if I can sum up the last three months and 530 posts of this,

......for the TLDR crowd that want to just jump into the fray.

Gear is proven to reduce your injuries if you fail at the primary rubber-side-down mission.

It's your choice to wear gear or not. (except that which is mandated by Big Brother)

Those of us that do wear gear, would really prefer that you did too.

Your choice to not wear gear, makes my choice to ride more expensive. (but I'll choose that expense any way because I can afford it and I love to ride)

Us= gear wearers. You= Non gear wearers. (no particular BARFER is intended)
