dick. :laughing

all you greedy mcgreedy-stains who were frothing at the mouth... now what? no fucking foresight. if this process pissed Alex off enough and he decides to move on, which he could well do, you can enjoy you unproven, 2nd year, never had an NFL start QB in stead of one with several years on NFL experience. :twofinger

say what you will about Alex and his magnitude of suck, but he's shown he can be an effective NFL QB, unlike many other high profile draft prospects. :x

nice try, but he already said he would come back to SF if Manning signed elsewhere.

I tell him good luck throwing to... uh... not Brandon Marshall, meanwhile Kaepernick will get to throw to Moss, Manningham, Crabtree, Davis, Walker, Williams, Gore, and Hunter.

:rofl

Dude's unemployed.
:wtf Are you smoking crack?

He is arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, and if his neck is fixed he will still be one of the very best in the NFL.

People much smarter and more knowledgeable than you are willing to pay him $9 Million a year. I'd say that put's your statement in the category of incredibly ignorant. :twofinger

He is going to Denver.

I hope Alex goes somewhere else. That'll shut Harbaugh up good.

Who knows what Peyton is thinking. He may prefer that division, facing Brady, not sure. I dont see the Broncos winning a ring in 4-5 years which is what Peyton has left. Might be a scenario where Jeff Saturday, Peyton's center of 12 seasons under the tables agreed to go to Denver too.

To me the 49ers gave him the best chance to win a ring.

As for Alex Smith, neither side owes each other anything. He had 6 mediocre seasons before Harbaugh. Alex has talent but a great deal of his success goes to the new system. He SHOULD be drooling over his new receivers. Much less need to run the ball and takes the pressure off the defense. Crabtree whined bout not getting the ball in the playoffs. You have to get separation and he wasnt. He also NEVER plays in pre-season.

The Niners will be fine if Alex doesnt come back. Josh Johsnon who Harbaugh coached might be an option. Kapernick with a full off season may also be ready. At 6'4 and more mobile than Smith and a better deep ball, that looks good.

All that being said, I wonder how much the 49ers push at Manning wasnt an attempt to block him from the Cards AND to get Alex Smith to stop over valuing himself and taking the 3 years $24 mil.

the SF QB situation is not going smoothly, that's for sure.

even with Smith, I have foresee a downstep in the QB efficiency angle in sf. It'll be tough for any qb to repeat that efficiency, no matter the system. and with Manningham and Moss, there should be an alteration of the qb role in sf's system (ie throw it more). which will most likely hurt efficiency. probably more passing TDs...and more INTs.

hes not even the greatest QB playing in the leaugue right now lol

payton is the man, but he just isnt the "greatest ever" argument like people wanna say.

it's clear, been clear, remains clear. alex is a placeholder, he is not the qb of the future.

i don't know if kaepernick is ready yet. he came out of a supergimmicky offense at nevada, he apparently still needs to work on his touch. the niners could not go into the season with kaepernick as qb1 last year especially with the lock out. he may not be ready yet. i wouldn't want to see anything guaranteed beyond next season for alex. i'd be more comfortable with him back, but i wouldn't be wringing my hands if he went elsewhere.

there's virtually no interest in alex from anyone else in the league. the niners were probably pretty cnfident no one else would offer him $8M/yr or a better chance to win. this doesn't give him any leverage and the niners don't owe him shit for looking into manning.

One thing that might weigh heavily against Manning from coming here....he's from the deep south and may not want to have all of his friends give him a hard time for playing for the 49ers for the rest of his life. Just something to consider.
it has been an issue with some guys from the south. one thing different about peyton is he's from new orleans, not from slackjaw, missisippah. but, yeah, the bay area isn't everyone's cup of tea.

If I was the 9ers and the original offer was 3yr/$24m with $10m guaranteed, I would tell him he has 48 hours to accept. Or the next offer would be 3yr/$21m with $8m guaranteed.

:laughing

The Pistol is just a 3 wide set with the RB behind the QB in a shotgun instead of next to him, isn't it?

Not exactly the spread or run n shoot, or whatever the hell they called that offense that the fighting tebows ran last year.

Manning to Denver was the best fit all along in my opinion. As for A Smith, unless he's got an incredible ego that keeps him from coming back, SF is the best fit for him. He wouldnt be the QB of the future in Miami either, clearly he has to know that. Personally I hope he does sign in Miami though.

yeah, it's not a pro style offense that really only 1 program runs. it's a type of spread, except the qb is closer than a traditional shotgun and, like you said, the rb is behind the qb, which opens up more running options.

but, you're right, it's not the run'n'shoot, or the wishbone, or the wing t...

ANYWAY i'm thinking crabtree, moss and manningham is an upgrade over crabtree, braylon edwards and josh morgan. plus, i still expect a wr in the first 3 or 4 rds of the draft. one place the niners are looking weaker right now is punt returns. think perrish cox was a punt returner at okla st, not sure how good he was.

oh yeah, probably need a rg, but that might get handled this week.

no but Shawntae Spencer to OAK as a CB. :laughing

he's actually not to shabby.
