The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

Most of the games between 1 and 8 are pretty soft for the Cowgirls, but they have to play Green Bay and Cincinnati, both are hard ass defenses

Green Bay's defense is soft, their offense carries them only so far.

I can really only agree with that if the Week 2 and 5 blowouts are wins, that way we can hear ESPN jerk off all over about the Cowboys being the best 3-3 team in football and how this is their year before they fuck it all up like they do every goddamn season.

Weak in the backfield, but they were a sack leader (Top 4) last year. That means bad news for glass QB's.

27th vs the pass, tied for 7th in sacks. GB's defense is pretty weak.

While looking at stats, I noticed the Giants defense gave up an NFL-worst 420 yards per game in 2015. The honor of 2nd-worst went to the Saints. Then I remembered the Saints beat the Giants 52-49 in that crazy game. :laughing

They kept Spagnuolo? Oh yeah... Pretty sure OC's have figured his stuff out.

The D was a nightmare last year, but I don't really blame Spags, I blame Reese. I remember when Spags got hired back and I was all excited about the return of a sturdy Defense for the team. LOL, then after training camp started, he made a couple of comments to the media that were politically correct, but reading between the lines he was essentially making a comment about polishing a turd. He clearly was happy to come back, and then when he did an inventory of the locker room, he was horrified. With guys coming back healthy this year and a really significant investment in new talent for both free agents and the draft, I expect a much better product this year. Honestly, the guy should get props for holding together the D as well as he did last year with the dregs that he had.

Oooh nice, Fins filled a CB-experience hole and signed former 49ers and Redskins CB Chris Culliver. Dude is coming back from ACL injury tho.

We got Byron Maxwell at one CB but the other spot is....nobody. Just a bunch of young inexperienced CB's no one knows. CB is a glaring weakness, I'm concerned.

NFL Hall of Fame today.

Kevin Greene, holy shit that guy was a pass-rushing monster. You just couldn't stop him. Or his long-ass blonde hair spilling out from under his helmet. He was simply unblockable. This MF'er had 37.5 sacks AFTER he turned 35 years old. Unblockable.

I saw K.Greene show up to a 9er game once. He pulled into the players' parking lot in an old 60's Bug. It was beaten all to hell with primer on two fenders.

Carradine dropped weight and looks to take Brooks' spot on the right. The 9ers' front end may be getting back to what it was 2-3 years ago.

Niners front 7 is going to be surprisingly good.

Do I need one?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's going to be much improved.
The problem I'm still struggling with is how the D is going to hold up if Kelly doesn't ever take his foot off the gas. He has to find a way to balance the use of balls out and business as usual. Otherwise the D is just going to get worn down and end up losing games in the second half.

Did you read something today that caused you to think the Niners' front 7 will be surprisingly good?

This chart is a crystal ball to clear things up with all the answers. Especially at QB.

That's already out of date :laughing

:laughing

They just put these out because the NFL forces it, they're always out of date.

Dolphins and Giants have a preseason game tomorrow, "The Phinsider" and "Big Blue View" are collaborating for notes:

-- Giants DE Olivier Vernon has been a monster throughout camp. He has given second-year left tackle Ereck Flowers fits.

-- The Giants have a couple of guys banged up, but this is the healthiest they have been at this time of the season in several years. It's actually kind of scary how healthy they are.

-- Eli Apple is not ripe yet, still green. :green

Anybody watch Hard Knocks Rams the other night?

Coach to Jared Goff: "Where does the sun rise?"
Goff: "I don't know."
Coach asks again: "What fucking direction does the sun rise? Take a guess!"
Goff: "The west?"

:laughing
