All twelve pounds of my loco moco and margaritas Hawaiian vacation fat are gone again. Took six days. :banana

I should hit New Years' easily under 220. Was 260 in January.
Great job! :thumbup

Losing 40 lbs is no joke, it takes work and dedication!

2019 M5c with bigger down tubes and a slight ECU flash, 627 rwhp. It's fucking redonkulous, especially with the kid's booster seat in the back.

Good for you. I still do not see the point in kipping (as a stepping stone) as it's not really a great segway to doing an actual pullup. Using straps, holds or negative reps actually builds the muscles to do the exercise. Swinging around using momentum as the basis for getting above the bar does not seem to be an effective use of time when the goal is building up to doing the pullup.

The best way to get better at any exercise is to actually do it (on in this case segments of the exercise).

Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing kipping. :( I try to mind my own business......I just don’t see the benefit. It would be like bouncing the bar off your chest on bench press.

Pull-downs with good form seem like a good way to prepare for pull-ups. :dunno

Agreed.

I have a pull-up/dip/leg raise station at home. I got a set of these to help some of my son's friends to work on being able to do pull-ups, they also have many other uses like increasing dip force:

20 minute row

20oz protein shake
8oz spinach
1 banana
1 apple
2 chicken breasts
1 cup ahi poke'
1/2 loaf Christmas pudding bread

I almost died in the surf today (250 yards out with a broken leash in 10'). I came way too close to loosing consciousness and am taking the rest of the day off to celebrate what's left of my nine lives!

Trackday time. Leave the seat in the back. Let's go drive!

That's what the 2018 M3cs (competition sport) is for. It's my fav right now.

Yikes!

Lifting Straps.

For those looking into getting lifting straps I would recommend you check out the figure 8 style versus the old loop style straps.

I have never used straps regularly before, but have needed to use something following my hand injury for deadlifts, DB rows and some other heavy pulling exercises. The figure 8 style are super easy to get setup with and work great. The down side is once you are strapped in, dropping the weight is more difficult. This may only effect douche bois in the gym, but it is worth noting.

I think the pair I got was $8 on Amazon, so worth a try and you can give them away if you don't like them.

*edit*

I guess they were $13

Fuck yeah, berto!

Fyi I also don’t go full arms straight hanging for the same reason.

Thanks Dan...and good to read on if I'm doing them correctly.

8 lives. "Almost" is a restart the level.

Down when it gets warmer in spring to lay some rubber down trackside at Thill.

Hit the gym last night and hit a new high of 380 calories burned on the treadmill by extending all of my fast intervals by 30 seconds. Next increase is planned for Monday plan to extend the last 2 intervals by another 30 seconds then on Thursday or next run day plan on extending the first 2 intervals by 30 seconds.

Also did some chest and triceps workouts. I really bombed the flat bench press I was doing almost 4 complete sets of 10 with my current weight but struggled to get the last 3 sets to 7 reps.

I think you guys are spot on with the theory about me burning up my energy reserves doing the treadmill. It seems like the more I push on the treadmill the less I have for the weights. So I am going to focus on getting calories burned on the treadmill and will do maintenance on the weightlifting to keep some mass and once I lose the weight I want then I am going to go full hog on the mass building once again.

20 minute row
40 minute weighted run 870ft elevation (25lbs @ 9 minute miles)

1 apple

Lots more food to come over the day; no sugar, whole grains, and lean meat and veggies.

Oh, and I rowed for another 20 minutes.

That machine will build a thick, irreversible waist for sure. Especially if you load it up with a lot of weight.
I was thinking about your comment, and TBH I'll take a little extra size on my waist for the extra protection of my kidneys.

Yeah, years of martial arts and boxing make that a subconscious thought, your kidneys are one of your most vulnerable organs in a fight. I don't set out to get in fights, but put a lot of thought into it when I was heavy into karate and acting as a bouncer, then later in boxing as an offensive weapon (hook to the kidneys immediately followed by another hook to the chin when their hands drop).

Taking the next two days off to visit my parents, probably run while I'm there. Going to try not to have another holiday sugar binge. Yeah right.

I’m kinda bummed. I just looked on an old device for some “before” pics. Seems like my fat pics are gone. I did want to toss a few of those up as well.

Beau and Mike are throwing down the gauntlet! :thumbup
