4 mile run today, then went to go run errands and stuff. will skip the rest today.

lunch:
pho dac biet
2 coffee

dinner:
24oz ribeye steak
1 broccoli

leftover cals:
brogurt

Soundtrack: 'Allman Brothers at the Filmore East'.
Fuel: Toast with honey & apples.
Gear: Cannondale
Launch: 04:00

My exercise protocol has settled into 'just keep pedaling'. Don't stop. Pedal until the album finishes then start again with fresh music.

I now gravitate toward double albums which translates into an hour and twenty minutes of activity between rests. My all time favorite is 'Umma Gumma'.

Super weird. Went car camping in a desert for three nights. Recovery was almost 100% according to Whoop. HRV highest I ever seen in two months I had it. Come back and HRV just tanks, recovery drops to low 40s. Respiratory rate is up, resting heart rate is up. You would think sleeping in own bed instead of in tent in sleeping bag will have opposite affect.

Oura ring readiness score also went down, but not as much.

It'll be interesting to see the AJ 3 months from now.

With all the crap going on in my life, I decided as part of my self-redefinition, that I would do the 75Hard program. Honestly more for the mental aspects and to help me get set up for success in that department with getting my own business going (on a very accelerated timeline since the corporate jobs seem to be drier than the Sahara), and to help me finally start realizing my other goals (both on the track and physically) that I have been a little too - wishy washy with the past year or so.

One workout a day is pretty easily already taken care of as I have been very consistent with helping out at the barn a minimum of 5 days a week (even holidays) and the occasional weekend ride as well. Plus, that's outdoors, so takes care of that particular piece. Fitting in the second one won't always be easy, but I can make that happen.

No cheat meals will be tough - even when tracking religiously, I've always allowed occasional junk food as long as it fit into my macros and calories. This one will be hard, but I'm ordering some Factor-75 meals to help with the convenience issues I can run into.

The water may be the hardest part honestly - I can't go 40 minutes without just about being ready to pee my pants :laughing

I'm just gonna raise my hand and admit to being a completely unmotivated, undisciplined and unenthusiastic member of the get fit crowd.

I have no idea what's happened to my head since the time change. Its dark at 4:30 and with the sun went my mojo.

I'm gonna try and get back on it with a 6 mile run today.

ughhhhhh.

You got this Mike. I was where you were about a month and a half ago; the largest change in my life along with gyms closing took me off track for about 7 months. Fortunately I never eat much so I didn't get fat...I just shrunk and lost strength.

Don't let idleness win. You've got this, brother!

The ups and downs are the worst. Covid pool closures are to me what losing the gym is to you. I need to find some regular winter swimming quick. I also realized I need to get back on my asthma meds. I can be loose with them in the summer but once winter rolls around I weeeze.

Today was better.

Whoa, didn't know this about you. You're so speaking my language. Same problems as you're having now too...it sucks so bad. The exercising is one of the only things that helps...and warm showers. I feel for you for sure. My asthma has been horrible lately. Glad to know it's not only me though.

So Whoop says I was 99% recovered today and I had flaked on the previous 2-3 rides (first due to lazyness and the last due to broken tire) so since I fixed the tire I went for a ride today to test the power meter. Calories seem quite a bit more accurate.

oxygen quality in the wilderness or the desert at night is typically far better than in the city or suburbs. <handwavy citation of science things>

Dumb question, but other than the weight issue, would your cardio performance be temporarily higher if you breathed pure oxygen on a climb?

dunno, i would assume so but there might be a limit of the cardiovascular/circulatory system on how it uses it. in a single breath i would assume so, but during exercise i would guess there's more factors than simply oxygen concentration.

4 mile down, brogability going and bench today.

lunch:
proton bar
couple of pringles
2 coffee
1 liter of water

dinner:
14oz NY steak
2 cups of rice
1 broccoli

leftover cals:
brogurt

thats a lot of avg watts for a low-ish avg speed. did u stop at a lot of lights?

Applause for everyone's efforts.

Being fit and conditioned is being pretty and attractive.

My numbers are probably not important to you so I won't bore you but I will proclaim music and effort.

Soundtrack: Today is "The Unicorn Heads" (Fans of Pink Floyd would enjoy)
Effort: Strictly bicycle. 125 miles a week
Fuel: Coffee and bananas. Sometimes toast or cold pizza.
Results: All positive. At almost seventy y/o it's like I am now a resto-mod in my own body. Viagra? Pfft . . .who needs it? The Cannondale works on so many levels my wife is now talking about doing something serious her own self.

I like pretty and attractive.
