Report: Jacobs escorted on 'Death Race 2012' by Jersey cops

New San Francisco 49ers RB Brandon Jacobs wasn't known for his breakaway speed during his seven-year stint with the New York Giants ... at least not on the field.

Jacobs was one of the drivers in a convoy of approximately 25-30 luxury sports cars which were escorted down the Garden State Parkway to Atlantic City by two Jersey troopers March 30, per The (Newark) Star-Ledger. According to witnesses, the cars sped down the toll road at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

According to accounts reported by the Star-Ledger, there were "two State Police patrol cars with their emergency lights flashing driving in front of and behind the southbound caravan, which included dozens of Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other vehicles, all with their license plates covered with tape."

Motorists on the road that day have expressed scary accounts and outrage.

"I had the great pleasure today of nearly being killed by, not one, but two, Lamborghinis traveling in excess of 110 mph in a (police) escorted 'caravan' of approximately 30 exotic vehicles all traveling well over 100 mph," witness Wayne Gantt wrote in an e-mail to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which overseas the Garden State Parkway.

Gantt added that the cars weaved dangerously across the road and he called the convoy "Death Race 2012."

Jacobs' agent confirmed "Brandon was part of a group that went down to Atlantic City on March 30" but did not provide further details.

The matter is under investigation by New Jersey police.

is it 5 years from the time of the crime, or 5 years from the time the crime was discovered to have happened?

from the last day that it happened. in theory he could have waited 5 years and a day and then had a press release saying, "Neener Neener Neener!!"

since we all know when Katrina trashed that place he's got a pretty good "alibi" for when it actually ended. haha. :laughing

The Patriots need this guy....with Belichick providing the video and this GM providing the audio, they would have the opposition well-scouted. :p

The only problem I'm having with the Saints GM story is that ESPN has been a little quick on pulling the trigger on these news stories. They've got a lot of egg on their face for running full throttle with the Bernie Fine story, especially now that one of the main accusers has said it was all a lie (as he reported to prison).

The One's.

i thought this was kinda cool. not too subtle at the end, though. :laughing

As an interesting side note, of the last 15 QB's picked in the first round since 1987 (Vinnie Testaverde) only 3 have won Superbowl Rings as starters. One (Drew Bledsoe) was actually injured during the playoffs and was replaced by a 4th round pick during his Superbowl win. One was what every team dreams of in a 1st pick overall QB (Troy Aikman - 3 SB Wins). The other 2 are both from the same family and have 3 Superbowl between them SO FAR. :teeth Rings like David Carr's for second string honors aren't really worth mentioning.

9 are still active players in the NFL and I assume Andrew Luck will make 10 Active after this draft unless Carr retires as a back up from the Giants or JaCarcass somehow becomes active again. Man though, as I look at the list of #1 Picks I sure do buy into the strategy of trading down that #1 for the wealth of lower picks it can bring. What the fuck is a KiJana Carter again? Was anyone else amused about this Tim Couch guy talking about how he wants to play golf with the likes of Peyton? :laughing

Trading down is basically the best possible thing you can do, because there will always be a Mike Ditka or a Dan Snyder willing to give up a shitload of value.

I mean, there is a reason that the Patriots trade down almost every year, or trade for future #1 picks, etc. Year in and year out they just make everybody else look bad.

I mean, seriously, so many teams buy the hype that you can almost assuredly get a Top 5 pick the same year along with a 1st round the next year (which probably won't be much lower) and a 2nd round the following year (just gravy) and how many of the guys on that list really changed the world compared to other guys taken say, Top 5 instead of #1? It seems to so rarely happen though, it's weird.

I've decided. In the 1st Rd of the NFL draft TOMORROW (f**k yeah!) the Fins will bow to pressure and take QB Ryan Tannehill if available, or a pass rusher if not. Meanwhile the Niners will shock everyone except me with a DB pick like Janoris Jenkins. The Raiders shall not pick.

Giants will get a TE, Steeler a LB, Bengals a DB. It is written. :laughing

i think you're on the right track with the Niners.

the consensus is that any draft picks for D wouldn't play right away so, therefore, the Niners likely won't "waste" a 1st rnd pick on Def. if there's a top-tier heir apparent to Sapoaga or Smith i think they'd go with them but don't forget the coaches seem to like Dobbs and Williams, the backups from last year. i don't think there will be any value left at CB when we get to pick #30 (even Jenkins, not a lot of value there). Niner LB's are solid (duh).

Alex Boone was supposed to be a 1st or 2nd rounder in 2010 - until he smashed a keg through a car window in a drunken rage. now he's got his shit together i think he deserves the shot at starting Guard with Kilgore and Person backing them up. if Niners go Offense i hope it's a WR or Fleener because i can't see them carrying 8+ linemen.

i hope for the Fins sake they don't take Tannehill. they should shoot for Kellen Moore, Boise, in the 2nd round. MUCH better value. much better QB, too. shit, i bet Tennehill might even still be there at ~40(?). Moore might be better than Kaepernick, even. i would laugh my ass off if the Niners took him in the 2nd.

this over / under rated article kinda backs that up.

I don't like a Tannehill pick either, a rookie NFL QB with only 19 college starts, trying to learn a variation of the WC offense? A non-factor for this season and maybe even the next.

Moore is good, he wins games. Garrard was a Pro Bowl QB only 2 years ago before his back injury. Tannehill just seems like a reach to me but hey they haven't picked a QB in the 1st rd in 29 freaking years so maybe it's time to get goofy.

If the Fins could find another Aldon Smith, I would be quite happy! Remember last year when everybody was like "Harbaugh is an offensive genius" then the first guy he picked was on defense which confused the Niners faithful? And then Smith shocked the league with a buttload of rookie sacks? Brilliant. :thumbup

Also....hey Miami...pay pass rusher Cameron Wake his MF'in money, the guy has more than earned it. :teeth

I'm not sure about that. The Giants have an annoyingly strict policy to always just take the best player available, regardless of need, which is why we've been in the LB Basement for years. TE is a need, but I'd still rather boost LB and then help TE and WR in the 2nd and 3rd. Some folks think we'll try and take a Powerback to replace Jacobs, but I don't see as much need. It really depends on what others do. If a gem slips down the draft because eof what other teams do, we'll probably grab a Tackle, RB, CB or DE before we address need at TE and LB if the talent falls down there.

DE was looking like a strength not a weakness in the Super Bowl run! The "drafting talent not need" can cause a lot of teams to end up with a 1st-rd fullback. :laughing

Yeah, but Osi has an attituide problem and Kiwi is a question mark. We have Tuck and JPP as rock solid, but for Big Blue, two Pro Bowl D-Linemen is NOT enough. :laughing

i keep forgetting that Chuck Pagano is the new HC in Indy. they may not be as bad as advertised - for long. he was freaking outstanding in baltimore.

glad Jim "Ridin'-on-Dungy's-Coattails" Caldwell is gone there.

Detroit needs to pick a receiver... Calvin Johnson was just picked for the cover of this years Madden. He'll probably be out by week 3 if the curse holds true.
